Accelerate exam preparation, hire tutors to strengthen weak subjects
In less than 2 months, Hanoi students will participate in the 10th grade entrance exam. This year, the exam becomes more fierce when only about nearly 60% of 9th grade students are admitted to public schools.
In the sprint exam preparation phase, students are taking advantage of every moment to review and practice exam questions. Many students hire tutors to tutor weak subjects separately, and set a tight schedule every day of the week.
With scores from surveys around 6-7 points, Doan Do Ngoc Lam - a 9th grade student at Lien Ha Secondary School (O Dien commune, Hanoi) - is stressed before the important exam.
The male student said: "I have unstable performance. The survey score from 6 - 7 points is a safe level for me to pass the first wish to Hong Thai High School. However, there were times when the Literature and English scores were below 6, which made me extremely stressed.

Ngoc Lam is currently having to hire a private tutor for each subject 2 sessions/week with a tuition fee of 200,000 VND per session.
In addition to the morning classes in class, I spend time practicing questions, doing homework and reviewing in the afternoon, then tutoring in the evening.
There are times when I only have time to take a short lunch break, then have to return to my homework. In the coming time, I will continue to focus on supplementing knowledge, strengthening the practice of Literature subjects because this is the subject I am most worried about" - Ngoc Lam confided.
Sharing the same mood as Ngoc Lam, Nguyen Van Anh - a 9th grade student at Phu Do Secondary School (Tu Liem ward, Hanoi) - is also actively preparing for the exam. In addition to studying at school and extra classes, the female student spends 4-5 hours each day self-studying and practicing questions. There are days when the female student eats dinner when it is almost 9 pm because she has two consecutive extra classes before.
Placing nguyện vọng 1 in Xuan Phuong High School and nguyện vọng 2 in Dai Mo High School, Van Anh is worried when the score level is only close to the previous year's benchmark.
My English subject is quite good when I usually get above 8 points, Literature is about 7 points. I am most worried about Math because there are times when this subject's score is below 7" - the female student shared.
In the coming time, Van Anh plans to focus on practicing more math questions in the early morning. She does not review late at night because it can cause fatigue in the next day's lessons.
Balance between study and rest
Placing the first wish at Viet Duc High School, a school with a fairly high benchmark score last year, Nguyen Thu Giang - a 9th grade student at To Hoang Secondary School (Bach Mai ward, Hanoi) - is also speeding up her preparation.
In previous years, the average benchmark score of the school would be about 8.5 points per subject. Although I have achieved similar scores in surveys, I am still not subjective. Each week, I practice about 2-3 exam questions for each subject to find knowledge that I have not yet grasped firmly" - the female student shared.
In addition, Thu Giang also participates in an online group to support the learning of seniors. In my opinion, self-study will become more effective when there is guidance from teachers or seniors.
To avoid pressure during tutoring, female students often create breaks between the study periods of subjects. She also has a habit of cycling in the evening to reduce stress.
The period near the exam is extremely important, so I get motivated by thinking about the day I pass the dream school. Although most of the time of the day will be spent studying, I still find it extremely necessary to have a break.
Even during breaks such as surfing the internet, I can still review by following the pages posting exam preparation knowledge or viewing the Q&A content in the online review group" - Thu Giang added.
