For high school transcript admission, the Ministry requires a combination of at least three subjects, including Math or Literature, with a weight of at least one-third of the total score. A major or training program can use several subject combinations at the same time. In that case, the common number of subjects in the combinations must have an assessment weight of at least 50% of the total score.
At the same time, schools must use the candidates' entire 12th grade academic results, instead of using 3-5 semester scores as at present.
This is agreed by many experts, in which some schools have had information about their expected enrollment plan for 2025.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Dung - Director of the Communication Center, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, said that in 2025, the school plans to eliminate the 3-semester transcript admission method, but still maintain the admission method based on the 3-subject combination of grade 12.
According to Ms. Dung, this adjustment is to meet the draft Regulations on University Admissions in 2025 announced by the Ministry of Education and Training.
In previous years, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology reviewed transcripts many times a year, such as reviewing the average score of 3 semesters (grade 11 and semester I of grade 12) or the combined score of three subjects in grade 12.
In addition, this school plans to add a method of considering university entrance exam scores (V-SAT).
Thus, in 2025, this school plans to have 4 admission methods, including: Considering the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam; Considering the transcript based on the average score of 3 subjects in grade 12, the condition for submitting an application is that the average score of 3 subjects in grade 12 in the admission group is 18 points or higher; Considering the results of the computer-based university entrance exam (VSAT exam); Considering the results of the 2025 competency assessment exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University.

The school has also announced the sample test for the 2025 specialized competency assessment exam, in which the structure of 5/6 subjects has been changed. The Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology exam consists of 40 questions, divided into three parts, instead of 50 questions with two parts as before.
For Literature, the test consists of 22 questions in three parts: reading comprehension (multiple choice); writing a short paragraph; essay. Of which, the writing a short paragraph is a new point compared to previous years. The structure of the English test remains the same.
