After days of suspension, semi-boarding activities at many schools in Ho Chi Minh City have been reorganized. Schools that were once suspended to complete conditions on facilities, personnel and food safety.
Talking to Lao Dong on September 15, the leader of the Culture and Social Department of Binh Dong ward said that by this week, primary and secondary schools in the area have reorganized semi-boarding activities and implemented lunch for students.
According to this person, some schools started organizing semi-boarding meals from September 11, then from September 14, they were deployed synchronously at schools. Schools are also completing related conditions to ensure meals, lunch breaks and student care.
At Trung Nhat Elementary School (Cau Kieu ward), semi-boarding activities were reorganized from September 10, and the school also implemented 2 sessions/day of teaching.
At Chanh Hung Secondary School (Chanh Hung ward), boarding activities were also reorganized from September 9 after 2 days of suspension.
The fact that many schools organize semi-boarding again helps parents gradually stabilize their family schedules. For families with both parents working during office hours, the school organizing lunch and lunch breaks for students significantly reduces pick-up and drop-off time in the middle of the day.
However, at some schools, parents still have to continue arranging people to pick up their children at noon.
At Dang Tran Con Primary School, Ms. Pham Thuy Ha - Principal of the school, said that the school plans to reorganize semi-boarding next week, after completing repairs and cleaning of areas serving this activity.
As for Nguyen Van Troi Elementary School, as of September 15, the school has not yet organized semi-boarding. Parents continue to have to pick up and drop off students at noon and then return to school in the early afternoon.
Ms. Tran Khanh Thu (Khanh Hoi ward) said that the lack of semi-boarding has forced her family to proactively arrange people to pick up and drop off their children in the middle of the day. Meanwhile, the lunch break time for students is also affected due to having to move between houses and schools. The family hopes that the school will soon complete the conditions to organize semi-boarding again, thereby stabilizing the school schedule and activities of students.
Similarly, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong (Khanh Hoi ward) said that his family had to adjust their work to arrange someone to pick up their children at noon. For families without family support, this creates additional pressure on time and costs.
Last week, when the new school year started, many schools in Ho Chi Minh City still could not organize semi-boarding because they needed more time to complete the necessary conditions. This situation mainly occurs in schools implementing arrangement and merger, when the scale of students changes, leading to requirements for facilities, personnel and organization of activities.
The lack of semi-boarding in the early days of the school year partly affects students' lives and causes more difficulties for parents in picking up and dropping off their children in the middle of the day.
