Not only finding a place to look after children
The summer of 2025 in Can Tho is becoming bustling with a significant increase in the demand for sending children to attend summer classes. Not only simply finding a place to look after children during their break, parents also clearly prioritize classes that help their children develop skills, talents and have practical experiences.

Faced with increasing demand, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Anh (Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City) had to proactively register early to "take the spot". Ms. Hong Anh said that because her grandchild often has the habit of watching the phone, in the summer, the family enrolls children to learn aerobics and some other skills to develop thinking and reduce dependence on electronic devices.
"The choice of subject is based on interests and the desire for children to relax after a stressful period of studying. Therefore, instead of continuing to focus on knowledge subjects, the family let the child learn dance and classes related to soft skills to increase the experience, Ms. Hong Anh shared.
Ms. Vo Kim Du (Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City) also took her child to summer school with the hope of minimizing her time spent using the phone and developing skills. Ms. Du shared that if there were no adults to look after her, she often caught her eyes on the phone screen.
"The reason for registering for summer classes is to have a place to send children when the family is busy and help reduce dependence on electronic devices. In order not to create pressure as well as help my child develop skills, I prioritize choosing sports and talents that are suitable for his interests such as painting and martial arts, said Ms. Du.
Summer classes double
According to a survey from facilities in Can Tho, the number of registrations for summer classes this year is increasing. The main reason comes from the need to find a safe and beneficial environment for children in the context of many busy families with no one to look after their children during the long holiday.
It is noteworthy that this increase is accompanied by a clear differentiation in parents' choices. Instead of focusing only on cultural knowledge review classes, parents now tend to look for programs with higher applicable value.

Mr. Vo Anh Tuan - Director of the Ninh Kieu District Children's Cultural House (Can Tho City) - informed that the number of summer classes at the Cultural House has doubled in the fields of culture, arts and sports. Through the survey, parents' needs are concentrated in arts, skills and interaction with society. This shows that parents are aiming for comprehensive training for their children, not just stopping at knowledge of books.
To meet the needs of parents and students, in addition to increasing the number of classes, the District Children's Cultural House also opened many new subjects, keeping up with social trends. In particular, the actor folk song class is open for free to students to participate.
With the forecast that the demand for summer school will continue to increase, the Ninh Kieu District Children's Cultural House has flexibly arranged a school schedule throughout the week, including 3 shifts per day (morning, afternoon, evening). This is to help parents easily register and make it more convenient to pick up and drop off their children.
