The 2025 grade 10 entrance exam is the first time students have taken the exam under the new program. The subjects are assessed to have many innovations, closely following reality, promoting the thinking and qualities of learners, meeting the goal of educational innovation.

Hanoi and provinces and cities have completed organizing the entrance exam for grade 10

In Hanoi, in 2 days of June 7-8, nearly 103,000 candidates completed 3 subjects: Math, Literature, Foreign Language, and entrance exam for grade 10 public high school in the 2025-2026 school year. As for students taking the entrance exam to specialized high schools under the Hanoi Department of Education and Training (Hanoi - Amsterdam Specialization, Nguyen Hue Specialization, Chu Van An Specialization and Son Tay Specialization), they will take the corresponding additional exam subjects on June 9.

In terms of form, the subjects of Math, Literature, History and Geography will be taken in an essay format; Foreign Language (taken in Foreign Language classes) will be taken in an essay format combined with objective multiple-choice questions to assess listening, reading, and writing skills (with an additional listening section). The Natural Science subject is an essay exam combined with objective multiple-choice tests.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Tuan - Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training - said that the whole city established 201 exam locations with 4,411 official exam rooms, 201 reserve exam rooms; mobilized more than 15,000 officers, teachers, and staff to participate in exam supervision; nearly 1,000 police officers to participate in ensuring security and safety.

The rate of candidates taking the exam in Literature, Foreign Language and Math is 99.6%; 99.59% and 99.57%, respectively. The whole city has 1 candidate who violated the regulations in Foreign Language. Inspection and supervision work is carried out regularly and closely, ensuring the safe conduct of the exam.

In Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City said that the 10th grade entrance exam marking council will work from June 8 - right after the end of the 10th grade entrance exam with a hard job. On June 11, the Council will officially rate the exam, expected to announce the exam scores on June 23.

Excitation and comfort are the common mood of many students across the country because the exam questions for all 3 subjects are considered "easy to breathe", not a challenge for students, but there are still factors to classify, evaluate the ability and thinking of learners. Of the 3 subjects, Literature is the subject that most people are interested in, because this year is the first year that the exam uses materials other than textbooks. This is to prevent rote learning and guessing.

Hoang Bao Anh - a 9th grade student at Hong Bang Secondary School (Hong Bang, Hai Phong) - feels quite confident after completing the exam. The female student commented that the exam is moderately difficult, close to the curriculum and suitable for students' abilities.

Although the language is outside of textbooks, Bao Anh said that he did not have any difficulty in doing the test.

Similarly, Le Thuy Duong - a student of class 9C, Nhu Ba Sy Secondary School (Hoang Hoa, Thanh Hoa) - also commented that compared to the reviewed questions, the official exam is somewhat lighter and still closely follows the exam structure announced by the Department of Education and Training of Thanh Hoa province earlier.

In Hanoi, the Literature exam for the 10th grade exam for nearly 103,000 candidates in Hanoi mentioned the theme "happiness", with language from the poem of the same name by author Giang Nam. "The exam is good and affordable, not only testing language knowledge but also sending many meaningful messages. Regarding the capacity, the exam requires writing a 200-word 1-2 and a 400-word 1-2, which is enough, requiring students not to write too long but still to convey enough knowledge and messages" - Ms. Anh Nguyet - Literature teacher, Nguyen Cong Tru Secondary School (Hanoi) commented.

Ms. Hoa Quy - a Literature teacher at Newton Inter-level School (Hanoi) - professional Advisor for Literature I.Master Education also praised the Literature exam for provinces and cities this year.

According to Ms. Hoa, the exam questions in provinces and cities are equivalent, unified in the level of requirements, testing and evaluating knowledge and abilities.

In the reading comprehension section, the materials can be poems, stories, and luan. However, the questions are all exploited according to the characteristics of the genre with reasonable and scientific levels of recognition and understanding.

In the writing section, except for Thanh Hoa, the remaining provinces require writing a section of literary analysis (poetry analysis, feature writing) and a Social argumentation thesis on issues familiar to young people today such as proactiveness, communication skills, overcoming fear...

"This is the first batch of students studying the 2018 program since grade 6 and taking the exam under the new program. Personally, I believe that the students will seize the opportunity to express and assert themselves in this exam proactively and fairly" - Ms. Hoa said.
