Although the school year has not ended, many private schools in Hanoi have issued an admission notice along with the admission fee for grade 10.
Ms. Bui Thi Kim Thu (Nam Tu Liem, Hanoi) - accepted to deposit 17 million VND to keep 2 schools in the district: "The reservation fee of Olympia Inter-level School is 15 million and Doan Thi Diem High School is 2 million VND. I am willing to pay to help my child reduce stress in this year's admission period".
In addition to the above reason, she chose two schools for her children because the distance from home to school is only about 5 - 6 km. If she follows school, her children will be more convenient to move around and avoid dangers.
"There are not too many quality private schools in the area, so my husband and I have considered the choice. However, I also prepare mentally that if my child passes public schools, the family will have to pay this fee, Ms. Thu added.
Sharing the same "defense" mentality as Ms. Kim Thu, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong - a parent of a 9th grade student in Bac Tu Liem district - shared: "Because my child's learning ability is not guaranteed, I have prepared for him to study at the Everett Education System, only about 3km from home".
She said that the tuition fee announced by the school is 10 million VND, not including other fees if she wants to be sure to enroll. Ms. Hong accepts this cost to feel secure for herself and her children.
"My husband and I are quite worried if our child fails to attend public schools. Paying for parking fees is like a way to reduce stress for both children and parents. This is also a school with tuition fees and admission requirements that are in line with my wishes - Ms. Hong confided.
It is known that in recent surveys at the school, Ms. Hong's son only achieved 4-5 points in 3 subjects: Math, Literature, English. If they do not try, there will be very few options for this score in public schools.
Ms. Hong confided: "My child does not have much inspiration to study, if I keep pushing, I am afraid my child will react strongly. Following the entrance exam of Everett, the required level is only about 5 points per subject. Thus, just by trying a little more, I was able to enter school.
In addition to the benefits of registering for admission, Ms. Hong also asked: Can the school refund the retention fee for this place if her child does not attend school?
Although we know that this fee is the schools way of ensuring the expected number of students. However, for families who are not too surplus like my family, the amount of money up to ten million is not small. If I can return it to parents when my child passes the public school entrance exam, I will not worry about it" - Ms. Hong shared more.

Currently, many private high schools in the area have begun to announce admissions in the form of considering junior high school transcripts. In addition to tuition fees and expected fees such as boarding services, shuttle buses, etc., many schools have notified parents to pay an additional fee, known by many different names such as: School fees, booking fees, registration fees, admission fees. The fee is determined by each school.
According to the announcement on the website of Everett Inter-level School, enrollment fees are deducted from the fees collected at the beginning of the school year, not refunded or transferred under any circumstances.
Similarly, at other schools, this accommodation fee will not be refunded under any circumstances.
At the 2024-2025 school year enrollment guidance conference, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong said that private schools collecting deposit fees is inhumane, losing the accepted model in the school.
The schools explained that this clause is to ensure stability, avoid parents submitting, withdrawing documents, and causing disruption. However, the Director of the Department of Education and Training did not agree and suggested that private schools learn from experience, not collect seat fees and create maximum conditions for students.
