On the afternoon of March 20, the Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy organized the Student Conference for the 2025–2026 academic year.
The conference is an important forum for students to directly exchange with the Board of Directors of the Academy and leaders of units on issues related to training programs, learning environment, student support work as well as career orientation after graduation. Through this, the school can exchange information, listen to opinions and promptly grasp the thoughts and aspirations of students in the process of studying and training.

Exchanging at the Conference, the issue of practicing medical certificate exams is a content that many students are interested in and questioning.
Regarding this content, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quoc Huy, Director of the Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy, member of the National Medical Council, Head of the Traditional Medicine Sub-committee, said that according to the provisions of the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment in 2023, medical students are only eligible to participate in the Practical Ability Test when they have completed a 12-month training and practical program.
After graduating from 6 years of university, learners must continue to participate in 12 months of practice at a medical facility and be issued a certificate of completion. This is a mandatory condition to register for the exam, instead of just needing a diploma as before.

According to the roadmap, the first examination in December 2027 will apply to 4 groups of titles: General Practitioner; Preventive Medicine Doctor; Traditional Medicine Doctor and Odonto-Stomatology Doctor.
If the exam is held in December 2027, graduates from mid-2026 will have enough time to complete practice and review to participate. In addition, those who graduated before the above regulated time but do not have a practicing certificate are also eligible to take the exam, provided that they complete the practical program as prescribed before January 1, 2027.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quoc Huy emphasized that official information about the exam will be updated by the Academy on the communication system and digital platform for students to grasp in a timely manner.
To prepare for this national test, the Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy has proactively comprehensively upgraded training conditions. Last year, the organization of teaching, testing, evaluation and announcement of scores was tightened, increasing transparency, and at the same time, promoting digital transformation in training management by putting into operation a new software system.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quoc Huy acknowledged that although there are still some initial problems due to conversion, the system is expected to be completed this year, meeting the requirements of learning data management well. Notably, the Academy is building a specialized exam area with about 300 computers, integrating software systems, surveillance cameras and security solutions, aiming to organize a professional competency assessment exam according to national standards.
The synchronous preparation from training programs, practice to technical infrastructure is an important condition for effectively implementing the Health Examination and Performance Assessment for medical examination and treatment for medical doctors in the coming time" - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quoc Huy emphasized.
