Many universities maintain academic transcript review in 2026
In the 2026 enrollment season, the Ministry of Education and Training limits each training institution to use a maximum of 5 admission methods. In which, many schools still choose the admission method based on high school academic results (admission based on academic records).
Dr. Nguyen Phi Long - Head of Training Department, Vietnam Women's Academy - said that in recent years, reviewing transcripts has been a method suitable for the school's enrollment strategy, reflecting relatively accurately students' learning abilities.
This year, the academy applies 5 admission methods, including the high school transcript review method.
Through many years of monitoring and evaluating admitted candidates based on academic transcripts, the school has found that their learning ability is quite similar to the results at the high school level. They still maintain good academic achievements when studying at university level" - Dr. Nguyen Phi Long shared.
Similarly, Phenikaa University also maintains the high school transcript review method for this year's enrollment season, but there are many new points. Specifically, the admission combination of the transcript review method is calculated based on the average general academic results of 6 semesters (from grade 10 to grade 12) of at least 3 subjects. In which, it is mandatory to have Mathematics or Literature accounting for at least 1/3 of the weighting of points in the admission combination.
In addition, candidates need to achieve a total score of at least 15 points in 3 subjects in the high school graduation exam, considered in combination or including Math, Literature and another subject.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Phu Khanh - Vice Rector of Phenikaa University assessed that the new regulations in transcript review help to assess candidates' abilities more comprehensively, ensuring the rights as well as fairness for candidates in the admission process.
No matter which admission method you choose, you still need to focus on completing the second semester of 12th grade well and prepare mentally for the high school graduation exam. Because this is still an important basis in many admission methods, including transcript review" - Vice Rector of Phenikaa University gave advice.
Be careful when choosing aspirations
Another new point of this year's enrollment season is that candidates can only register a maximum of 15 admission aspirations instead of being unlimited as last year.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung - Rector of CMC University said that each candidate will have different strengths. Some students are suitable for technology, some students are suitable for journalism, language or design. Therefore, he advises candidates to clearly identify which industry they are suitable for, based on their abilities and interests to choose their aspirations for admission.

In addition, Mr. Tung also emphasized that candidates should not choose according to crowds or trends.
Choosing a major and choosing a career is a long-term decision, associated with later careers, so it is necessary to consider seriously. In addition, when choosing a university, candidates should carefully learn about the training program, scholarships and admission methods to increase their chances of being admitted to a suitable major or school" - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung shared.
The Rector of CMC University acknowledged that in the current context, candidates should prioritize schools with training orientations associated with digital skills and artificial intelligence AI, because these are increasingly important factors in the labor market.
In addition, schools with close links with businesses should be selected. When schools are associated with businesses, students will have the opportunity to access a real working environment right from when they are still in school, thereby narrowing the gap between training and the needs of the labor market, and increasing job opportunities after graduation.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Phu Khanh also reminded candidates to carefully consider between choosing and arranging admission methods, including considering transcripts, to optimize the possibility of admission.
Besides reviewing, candidates should proactively learn about enrollment information of the schools and majors they are aiming for.
In which, it is necessary to pay attention to the admission method and subject combinations for each major to come up with the most beneficial arrangement for themselves, ensuring maximum admission opportunities" - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Phu Khanh said.
