On November 21, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training (DET) informed about the plan to organize the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2026-2027 school year.
Accordingly, the Department plans to advise the city to organize the 10th grade entrance exam at the end of June 2026, instead of early June as in previous years.
This adjustment is to ensure compliance with the 2026-2027 school year time plan issued by the Ministry of Education and Training and create conditions for grade 9 students to have more time to review before the exam.
According to the 2025-2026 school year schedule issued by the Ministry of Education and Training, the 2026 high school graduation exam is expected to take place on June 11 and 12, 2 weeks earlier than in 2025.
Thus, Hanoi also needs to postpone the organization of the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2026-2027 school year in that situation, to comply with the school year time plan framework issued by the Ministry of Education and Training.
The Hanoi Department of Education and Training analyzed that if the old schedule is kept, the two exams can overlap or take place close together. If the exam is held in early June, students will not have time to review, because the school year ends on May 31.
Meanwhile, both exams have a scale of over 100,000 candidates. Therefore, to ensure conditions for personnel, location, etc., the Department plans to take the 10th grade exam later than every year.
A representative of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training said that they will study and calculate carefully to advise the City People's Committee to issue a specific, appropriate and convenient plan for students.
"Parents should not worry too much about the exam time, if their children are really well prepared. The important thing is that students must have a review plan, a strong mentality and family support. Instead of putting pressure on children, parents can accompany, support and encourage their children, said a representative of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.
