According to statistics from the Department of Education and Training (DET) of Ho Chi Minh City in the draft arrangement plan, the education and training sector currently has 279 units under the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City.
According to the draft project, the arrangement plan for kindergartens, general schools, and units under the Department is as follows:
Maintain 198 public service units under the Department of Education and Training (including 170 high schools and high schools with many levels of education; 3 public kindergartens, 22 centers supporting the development of integrated education and specialized education schools; 1 Technical - General and career guidance center; 2 existing autonomous centers with regular expenditures: Ho Chi Minh City Foreign Language - Information Technology Center, Information Center and educational program).
Maintain 1,930 public service units in the education sector under the management of the People's Committees at the commune level. The establishment of new schools will follow the requirements of developing schools in areas according to demand.
For continuing education centers, vocational education centers - continuing education
Converting and rearranging 41 units into 37 vocational secondary schools (reducing 4 units, including 3 centers under the Department of Education and Training, 1 center under the Youth Volunteer Force).
For universities, colleges, and secondary schools
Maintain the same 2 Faculty of Medicine Pham Ngoc Thach University, Thu Dau Mot University.
Reorganize Saigon University (merge Ba Ria - Vung Tau Pedagogical College into Saigon University).
Maintain 6 schools: Vietnam - Singapore College; Vietnam - Korea Binh Duong College; Ba Ria - Vung Tau Technology; Thu Duc Technology; Architecture - Construction of Ho Chi Minh City; Technology and Business Administration Bank.
Arrange 13 colleges and 17 secondary schools as follows:


After the arrangement, there are 256 public service units (excluding 2 secondary schools managed by enterprises), including 236 public service units under the Department of Education and Training; 3 universities, 17 colleges under the City People's Committee.
