Vietnam National University, Hanoi
Hanoi National University has announced 6 new points in the 2025 competency assessment exam related to: New exam structure; Number of questions and how to ask questions in each topic; Questions related to practical situations, works outside the textbook; Cluster questions appearing in all exam sections; Candidates can choose the third exam section; Adjust the schedule for candidates registering for the exam for the first time to reduce network congestion like last year.
In 2025, Hanoi National University will organize 6 exam sessions from March to May, each with about 15,000 candidates participating. The first exam session is scheduled to take place on March 15-16, 2025, with candidates starting registration on February 8, 2025.
Ho Chi Minh City National University
The Ho Chi Minh City National University's aptitude test continues to be the largest in the country, with more than 105 educational institutions using the results for admission.
The 2025 exam structure remains the same with 3 parts: Language use; Mathematics, logical thinking and data analysis; Problem solving (Candidates choose 3 out of 6 problem groups to do the test).
Hanoi University of Science and Technology
In 2025, Hanoi University of Science and Technology will organize 3 rounds of thinking assessment exams:
Phase 1 from January 18-19, 2025 (registration opens from December 1-6, 2024).
Phase 2 from March 8-9, 2025 (registration opens from February 1-6, 2025).
Phase 3 from April 26-27, 2025 (registration opens from April 1-6, 2025).
The test consists of 3 independent parts: Mathematical thinking; Reading comprehension; Scientific thinking/problem solving.
The exam is expected to serve about 75,000 candidates.
Hanoi National University of Education
Hanoi National University of Education will continue to organize its own competency assessment exam in 2025, taking place only once in 3 locations: Hanoi, Da Nang and Quy Nhon. Each exam has multiple choice and essay sections.
In 2024, the number of registered candidates increased 2.5 times compared to the previous year.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Education
From 2025, the school will no longer apply academic transcript scores in the admission method combined with specialized competency assessment tests. The competency assessment test is based on the 2018 general education program, with 70-80% of grade 12 knowledge and the rest from grades 10 and 11.
This method is expected to account for 30-50% of the target in 2024.
V-SAT Exam
V-SAT is an entrance exam organized by universities in collaboration with the National Testing Center (Ministry of Education and Training).
Currently, 18 schools have agreed to organize the exam and use the V-SAT results for admission in 2025. The exam is considered to be closely aligned with the general education program and has high classification.
Schools that organize V-SAT exams are autonomous in using exam results for university admissions according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training; at the same time, priority is given to recognizing and sharing the results of V-SAT exams.
Private exams for universities of public security and military
The Ministry of Public Security's own entrance exam includes multiple-choice (logical thinking, situation handling) and essay (math, literature). The exam is expected to be held after the high school graduation exam.
This is the third year the exam has been organized by the Ministry of Public Security as a basis for admission to People's Public Security academies and schools.
According to the Ministry of Public Security, the 2024 assessment exam will have about 18,000 candidates participating, an increase of 20% compared to 2023.
The military school block is developing a pilot plan to organize its own computer-based university and college entrance exams. The exam will include comprehensive knowledge of Math, Literature, English, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences.
The results are used to consider about 30% of the total enrollment quota.
