Interest in developing soft skills
As a parent whose son is in grade 6 in Vinh Thanh district, Can Tho city, Mr. Pham Van Tham (47 years old) said that his son used to attend extra English classes 3 sessions/week, organized by the English teacher in the class.
"After the Tet holiday, the teacher informed us parents about the new circular regulating extra teaching and learning taking effect from February 14. To comply with the regulations, the teacher has suspended the class. Instead, the teacher sends many test questions to the children for reference, and at the same time takes appropriate time to prepare the questions and review for them, Mr. Tham shared.
Currently, Mr. Tham is no longer worried about extra classes but is focusing on helping his children participate in sports and club activities. His son spent time every afternoon studying groups with friends, learning martial arts, playing badminton and badminton.
Similarly, Ms. Kim Pha (Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City) said that this is a good time for her to invest, register for her children to participate in artistic and talented activities, helping them discover and develop themselves. I no longer have to be busy with main school and extra classes every day.
According to many parents, not taking extra classes helps their children have more time to develop soft skills such as communication, teamwork, critical thinking, creativity, etc. These skills are very important for the comprehensive development of their children.
Tightening extra teaching and learning
In Can Tho City, the city's Department of Education and Training (DET) has issued a document requesting the Departments of Education and Training of districts, towns, and educational institutions to comply with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training in Circular 29 on extra teaching and learning.

The People's Committees of districts and towns direct the Department of Education and Training and the Vocational Education - Education Centers to regularly deploy circulars to managers and teachers of primary and secondary schools and high schools with many levels of education (the highest level is secondary school); direct the People's Committees of communes, wards and towns to supervise and inspect compliance with regulations of organizations and individuals organizing extra classes outside of school in the area.
Principals of high schools and general schools with many levels of education (the highest level is high school) deploy circulars to all managers and teachers; inspect and supervise managers and teachers of the unit participating in extra-curricular teaching.
While waiting for the City People's Committee to issue regulations on extra teaching and learning in the area; documents guiding the organization of extra teaching and learning from the Department of Education and Training; Department leaders requested units to pay attention to propagating in many forms to managers, teachers, students and people regulating extra teaching and learning according to Circular 29.
The organization of extra teaching and learning must ensure the principles according to the provisions of the circular. For cases where extra teaching is not allowed, organizing extra teaching according to the provisions of the Circular must be strictly implemented.
Heads of educational institutions are responsible for organizing and managing extra teaching and learning in schools according to regulations; at the same time, they are responsible for managing teachers participating in extra teaching outside of school in accordance with the instructions and regulations of Circular 29.
