The Institute of Digital Training and Testing of Vietnam National University, Hanoi has just provided quick information about the 2nd competency assessment exam in 2026 (period 602, taking place on March 21-22).

At the end of phase 602, the number of candidates taking the exam was 20,272 out of a total of 20,465 registered students (reaching a rate of 99.1%).
The candidate with the highest score is 129 (combined Q21). The lowest candidate is 30 (combined Q02). There is 1 candidate suspended from the exam.

Previously, in the first phase of the competency assessment exam of Vietnam National University, Hanoi in 2026, the candidate with the highest score was 127 points (combined Q01).
On the first exam day of phase 2, 1 candidate was suspended due to violating regulations.
Thus, to date, there have been a total of 4 cases of violations of regulations in the capacity assessment exam of Vietnam National University, Hanoi in 2026.
The competency assessment exam of Vietnam National University, Hanoi is one of the two largest separate exams in the country, with about 60,000-90,000 candidates each year. To date, more than 100 universities have used the results of the competency assessment exam in admission consideration.
The exam takes place on a computer, including 3 parts: Mathematics and data processing (Quantitative thinking); Literature - Language ( Qualitative thinking); Science or English (Optional). Total score is 150, test time is 195 minutes.
Dr. Vuong Thi Phuong Thao, Deputy Director of the Institute of Digital Training and Testing, Vice Chairman of the Examination Council, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, said that the structure of the competency assessment test is built according to the 2018 General Education Program.
Every year, exam questions are strengthened with more application-oriented questions, assessing the ability and thinking of candidates rather than just focusing on checking knowledge.
The exam question development process includes many steps such as developing raw questions, testing, evaluating and screening. Only questions that fully meet the standards are included in the exam question bank, in order to ensure reliability and avoid rote learning.
Ms. Thao advised candidates to refer to the exam structure and sample exam questions that have been announced to make review materials, and at the same time study and prepare themselves. Students need to learn carefully before participating in exam preparation courses to avoid wasting time and costs.
