On January 8, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training (GDDT) announced the conclusion of Ms. Le Thuy My Chau - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training at the conference to summarize the first semester of the 2025-2026 school year for preschool education.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, in the first semester of the 2025-2026 school year, the preschool education sector has achieved many positive results, gradually improving the quality of nurturing, caring for and educating children, creating a foundation for completing the school year tasks.
However, the industry still has some limitations such as the situation of unsafety for children at some facilities, especially independent children's groups and non-public facilities; lack of standard teachers; the update of legal dossiers and industry data is not timely; the work of organizing kitchens and building nutritional diets in some places is still formalistic.
Faced with this situation, the leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training requested the heads of preschool education institutions to be directly responsible for the safety of children, not to have "light" accidents, "small" violations; resolutely handle and not cover up violations related to food safety and hygiene, injuries and child abuse.
People's Committees of wards, communes, and special zones are required to strengthen state management, proactively inspect, supervise, promptly detect and handle arising cases, especially at independent childcare groups and non-public preschool facilities.
In addition, the Ho Chi Minh City preschool education sector needs to improve management capacity in the context of decentralization, promote the role of specialized clusters, and strengthen support for facilities in difficult areas. Preschool education institutions must promote standardizing the teaching staff, applying digital technology, and fully updating industry databases to serve management and forecasting work.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training also requires facilities to strictly implement the one-way kitchen process, ensure scientific nutrition; build a safe educational environment, putting children at the center; innovate educational methods, strengthen life skills education, communication skills, and organize children to get acquainted with English appropriately for their age.
The Preschool Education Department is assigned to preside over and coordinate with relevant units to monitor, summarize difficulties and obstacles, and advise on solutions to improve the quality of preschool education in Ho Chi Minh City in the direction of stability, integration and sustainable development.
