On August 19, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province sent an official dispatch to the Departments of Education and Training, the Department of Home Affairs, the Department of Finance, and the Vietnam - Korea - Quang Ngai College regarding the school's unpaid wages and tuition fees for lecturers that Lao Dong Newspaper had previously reported.
Accordingly, considering the report and proposal of the Department of Education and Training in Report No. 67/BC-SGDDT dated August 8, 2025 on the results of reviewing and inspecting the contents reported by Lao Dong Newspaper on July 25, 2025 related to Vietnam - Korea Quang Ngai College; Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province assigned the Department of Finance to preside over and coordinate with relevant units to guide Vietnam - Korea - Quang Ngai College to review, evaluate, and rebuild an autonomy plan according to the instructions of the Minister of Finance in Circular No. 56/2022/TT-BTC dated September 16, 2021.
The direction of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee in Official Dispatch No. 759/UBND-KTTH dated July 28, 2025, the opinion of the Department of Finance in Official Dispatch No. 741/STC-HCSN dated August 1, 2025.
In the immediate future, Vietnam - Korea - Quang Ngai College will proactively review and balance the use of the School's funding sources to prioritize the payment of salaries and overtime pay for lecturers according to regulations and the authority of the unit. After the competent authority re-approved the autonomy plan of Vietnam - Korea - Quang Ngai College, the Department of Finance was assigned to preside over and coordinate with relevant units to advise the Provincial People's Committee to consider re-balancing the School according to the approved financial autonomy plan according to regulations.
Vietnam - Korea - Quang Ngai College is responsible for proactively coordinating with the Department of Education and Training and the Department of Home Affairs to complete the School Council to ensure compliance with procedures and regulations.
Assign the Department of Education and Training and the Department of Home Affairs, according to their functions and tasks, to guide the Vietnam - Korea - Quang Ngai College to complete the School Council according to the provisions of Circular No. 15/2021/TT-BLDTBXH dated October 21, 2021 of the Minister of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs (old) regulating the College Charter and related documents.
Previously, on July 25, 2025, Lao Dong Newspaper published an article reflecting on the situation of unpaid wages and overtime pay for lecturers occurring at Vietnam - Korea - Quang Ngai College with a total amount of more than 6.3 billion VND.
Notably, the school owes lecturers overtime pay for 10 years with an amount of more than 4 billion VND. After that, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee directed departments and branches to urgently inspect and specifically report the process and results of implementing the instructions of competent authorities on the related recommendations of Vietnam - Korea - Quang Ngai College in the past; at the same time, clarify the difficulties and problems (if any). On that basis, synthesize, report and propose to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and direction in accordance with regulations.
On August 15, 2025, the school paid more than 2 billion VND in unpaid salaries to lecturers, the rest of the overtime debt had not yet been paid.
Vietnam - Korea - Quang Ngai College was established by the Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (old) under Decision No. 1963/QD-LDTBXH dated December 20, 2013. This is a public vocational training institution, operating according to the model of a public vocational college, under the national education system, a vocational unit with revenue, under the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province.
