On January 18, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the results of the national high school exam for excellent students for the 2024-2025 school year.
Accordingly, this year's exam had a total of 3,803 prize-winning candidates, accounting for 58.68% of the total number of candidates taking the exam. Compared to last year, the number of prize-winning candidates increased by 452.
Hanoi continues to be the leading locality in the country in the number of national excellent student awards with 200 candidates winning First, Second, Third and Encouragement prizes, spanning all subjects - an increase of 16 prizes compared to last year.
Also in this exam, some northern mountainous provinces achieved many very positive results.
Notably, Thai Nguyen and Hanoi National University appeared in the top 10 for the first time, replacing Nam Dinh and Thanh Hoa compared to last year.
The fact that Thai Nguyen is in the top 10 for the first time reflects the students' efforts to overcome difficulties and the attention of local authorities at all levels in promoting education and creating opportunities for students to develop their talents.
Along with Thai Nguyen (90 awards), Vinh Phuc (87 awards) is in the top 10 provinces with the highest results, some other provinces also have impressive results such as Phu Tho (78 awards), Lao Cai (71 awards), Tuyen Quang (56 awards), Yen Bai (57 awards), Hoa Binh (41 awards).
However, in other developments, some provinces did not achieve really high results such as Cao Bang (16 prizes), Bac Kan (25 prizes), Dien Bien (22 prizes), Lang Son (34 prizes), Lai Chau (17 prizes), Son La (34 prizes).
In particular, Ha Giang only has 18 awards and no awards for excellent students in foreign languages.
It is worth mentioning that some provinces with low numbers of excellent student awards are also among the localities with the lowest high school graduation exam scores in 2024 in the country, such as Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Dien Bien, Lang Son, Son La, Bac Kan...
It is known that students who win the prize will receive a certificate and be considered for direct admission to many universities. In addition, they will be rewarded by the locality according to its own policy, with tens of millions of dong.
For the international Olympic subjects of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Informatics and Biology, the Ministry of Education and Training will call a number of candidates with high scores to select the team.
