On November 15, in Can Tho city, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) coordinated with the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department - Ministry of Public Security - to organize a training conference to improve knowledge for core teachers, members of the "Youth Anti-Drug" Clubs and "Students Anti-Drug" Clubs in educational institutions in the Southern region.
The conference aims to provide knowledge and skills in drug prevention and control for managers and teachers; promote propaganda and education to raise awareness, compliance, and skills in drug prevention and control for students in general education institutions; universities, academies, colleges, and pedagogical colleges.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Deputy Director of the Department of Political Education and Student Affairs - Ministry of Education and Training - Nguyen Xuan An Viet said: In recent years, many new types of drugs have continuously appeared in our country, the illegal use of drugs, especially synthetic drugs, has occurred in many localities; some types of drugs have appeared "disguised" as electronic cigarettes, drinks, foods... causing harmful effects on many aspects to young people, teenagers, students.
“Through this conference, I hope that teachers will gain more useful knowledge to effectively implement propaganda work, legal education, and skills on drug prevention and control for students of their units and will become active propagandists for friends, family and everyone in society,” said Mr. Viet.
At the conference, Lieutenant Colonel Phan Dang Trung, Deputy Head of Department 6, Department of Drug Crime Investigation - Ministry of Public Security - said: The situation of crime and drug abuse in our country is very complicated. Notably, the situation of illegal drug use is taking place in many localities, especially in big cities, where there are many universities, colleges, educational institutions... including young people, teenagers, students.
Therefore, it is necessary to equip information, knowledge and skills to proactively prevent drugs, prevent students from being lured into using drugs "disguised" as food, drinks, electronic cigarettes containing drugs...
Mr. Nguyen Minh Phuong, Thuan Hung High School (Thot Not District, Can Tho City) said that the school's drug prevention and control propaganda activities are also organized regularly, in the form of flag-raising activities, giving students practical experiences through dramatization, led by the School Youth Union. Each class has a skit on the topic of drugs in schools every week and every month; from there, students come up with solutions and lessons through the skit.
Every year, the school also organizes a contest at the beginning and end of each school year to equip students with knowledge on drug prevention and control, helping them to be able to cope with and stay away from the temptations of social evils, including drugs and other prohibited substances...
