Call to stop asking parents to contribute nanny allowance

Chân Phúc |

HCMC - The Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City has requested primary schools to immediately stop paying nanny allowances in violation of regulations.

The above information was announced by Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien - Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City on the afternoon of September 26 at a regular press conference providing information on socio-economic issues of Ho Chi Minh City.

Previously, some parents whose children study at an elementary school in Thu Duc city reported that the school called on parents to support the contribution of the August allowance for nannies, based on the voluntary spirit of parents and paid to the school.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien said that after receiving the information and reviewing, the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City requested the units to stop the mobilization and return all the collected funds that were mobilized and used for the wrong purpose.

At the same time, this unit directed educational institutions to seriously study the document and properly implement the direction and spirit of Circular 16/2018/TT-BGDDT regulating funding for educational institutions in the national education system.

Ms. Hien added that the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City will organize inspections of the implementation of the campaign contents at facilities in the coming time, and advise on handling units that violate financial principles.

"Every year, the Department of Education and Training issues documents at the beginning of the year to rectify the work of mobilizing funding for education and operating expenses of the parent-teacher association," said Ms. Hien.

In the 2024-2025 school year, the Department of Education and Training also issued a directive document, including the following content: Do not mobilize sponsorship to pay for teaching fees; expenses directly related to managers, teachers, lecturers and staff, security and protection activities; fees for looking after students' vehicles; fees for maintaining classroom hygiene and school hygiene; rewards for managers, teachers and staff; costs to support the management of educational institutions.

Do not use funds from the Parents' Representative Committee for purposes such as: protecting school facilities, ensuring school security, repairing, upgrading, or constructing new school buildings.
