On May 16, the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board said that it had sent a document to the Ministry of Construction, requesting the early completion of legal procedures to approve the construction of the Cam Lo - La Son expressway expansion project.
According to the proposal, the project will be implemented according to the procedures of the emergency project to shorten the implementation time and speed up the investment progress.
Currently, the Project Management Board is completing the design documents and feasibility study report, with a total investment of about VND6,400 billion.
The project includes a smart traffic operating system, striving to start construction at the end of August 2025.
The Ministry of Construction is currently coordinating with relevant agencies to urgently complete investment preparation procedures, submit to the Government for consideration and approval in the coming time.
Previously, in October 2024, the Government approved the investment policy for the North-South expressway expansion project in the East, Cam Lo - La Son section, increasing the scale from 2 lanes to 4 lanes.
The route is about 98.35 km long, with a total investment of more than VND 6,488 billion.
According to the plan, the project starts at km0+000 (Cam Hieu commune, Cam Lo district, Quang Tri province), followed by the end of Van Ninh - Cam Lo highway. The end point at Km102+200 (Loc Bon commune, Phu Loc district, Hue city), connected to the first point of La Son - Hoa Lien highway.
The investment scope includes expanding roadbeds, road surfaces and ancillary works along the entire route, ensuring synchronous technical infrastructure, meeting 4-lane standards.
The Cam Lo - La Son Expressway is 98.3 km long, passing through two localities including Quang Tri (37.3 km) and Thua Thien Hue (61 km). The route started construction in September 2019 and will be put into operation from the end of 2022, with a total initial investment of about VND 7,669 billion.
