High risk of landslides
Due to the impact of prolonged heavy rains at the end of October and the beginning of November 2025, on the La Son - Hoa Lien expressway (connecting Hue City with Da Nang City), many points of positive taluy landslides and negative taluy subsidence appeared, soil and rocks spilled onto the road surface. Among them, the sections km42+700 - km42+800 and km50+700 - km50+800 are assessed as particularly dangerous.
According to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters at the time, many locations of taluy slopes were deeply landslides, and the soil and rock mass continued to show signs of movement, especially during bad weather or prolonged rain. Many bridge abutments were greatly affected, posing a potential risk of unsafety for people and vehicles when traveling.
Faced with the above situation, on November 7, 2025, the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board (Ministry of Construction) issued a notice on the temporary traffic organization plan on the route. At serious landslide locations, functional forces only allow 1 lane for traffic, and at the same time prohibit passenger cars and trucks from 6 axes or more from passing through the expressway; the remaining vehicles are only allowed to circulate during the day.
However, due to the risk of landslides still being high along the route, the temporary plan was then continuously extended.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung (31 years old, residing in Quang Tri) said that restricting traffic on the expressway more or less affects his work, because this is a regular route between the Central region.
Looking at newspapers and radio, I saw landslides in many places, some sections are very dangerous, so when driving, I couldn't help but worry. Although inconvenient for travel, I think safety must be put first. I hope the landslide situation will be completely overcome soon" - Mr. Dung shared.
Continue to ban many types of vehicles
Information from the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board said that the unit has just sent documents to the Department of Construction, the Traffic Police Department of Hue City Police, Da Nang City and related road management units on continuing to maintain the temporary traffic organization plan on the La Son - Hoa Lien expressway.
According to assessments, recently, the area of Hue City and Da Nang has continuously experienced prolonged rain. Although the rainfall is not large, the geological foundation has saturated water after previous rains and floods, posing a risk of landslides, especially at night when visibility is limited.

To ensure traffic safety before, during and after the 2026 Lunar New Year, the Project Management Board agreed to continue applying the traffic restriction plan. Specifically: Ban passenger cars and trucks on 6 axes from circulating on the route until 5:00 PM on March 5, 2026; The remaining vehicles are only allowed to circulate from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily; Completely ban night traffic on the entire route during the application of the temporary plan.

After the above milestone, functional units will base on the weather situation, level of landslides and safety conditions to consider adjusting the plan, towards restoring normal circulation if conditions are met.
The Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board requested the Traffic Police force of Hue City and Da Nang City to continue to arrange forces to be on duty, guide and remind people to strictly comply with traffic diversion regulations; absolutely do not drive vehicles into the route during prohibited hours to avoid unsafety.
