The People's Council of Son La province has just issued a resolution approving the policy of converting forest use to other purposes to implement projects in the districts of Bac Yen, Phu Yen, Quynh Nhai and Van Ho.
This Resolution was approved by the 15th Son La Provincial People's Council, the 29th thematic session (taking place on March 21, 2025) and has come into effect.
Projects approved for forest conversion include:
Hang Dang B Hydropower Project: Converting 25.27 hectares of natural forest, most of which are special-use forests serving ecological restoration and non-planned forests. This area belongs to two communes, Hang Dong (Bac Yen district) and Suoi To (Phu Yen district).
Road project from Nam Em commune to Muong Sai (Quynh Nhai district): Converting 1.49 hectares of natural forest, mainly protective forest and production forest to improve traffic connectivity in the area.
Hoa Binh - Moc Chau Expressway Project (section through Son La province): Conversion of 16.38 hectares of forest, of which more than 14 hectares are planted forests and more than 2 hectares are natural forests in Chieng Yen commune, Van Ho district.
The Hoa Binh - Moc Chau Expressway section through Son La province is about 32.3 km long, starting at km 53 in Chieng Yen commune, Van Ho district and ending at km 85+300, intersecting with National Highway 43 in Phieng Luong commune, Moc Chau district.
The length of site clearance is about 34.4 km, the investment phase is on a 2-lane scale, the site clearance scope is on a 4-lane scale. The total investment is about 4,938 billion VND from the State budget, the implementation period is from 2023 to 2028.
The People's Committee of Son La province was assigned to be the managing agency of the Hoa Binh - Moc Chau Expressway Construction Investment Project, a section of the route in the province.
