On January 8, the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) of Quang Tri Provincial Police said that recently functional forces recorded in some roads, residential areas and areas near schools a situation of many children standing close to the road edge, on both sides of the road to wave and call along with vehicles in circulation.
According to functional agencies, this seemingly harmless behavior poses a very high risk of traffic unsafety, which can directly endanger children as well as vehicle drivers.
Children do not have sufficient skills and awareness when participating in traffic; standing near the road surface, suddenly running to the edge of the road, crossing the road in the wrong place easily startles drivers, brakes suddenly or steers suddenly, thereby leading to collisions, even serious accidents. The risk is even higher on roads with high traffic volume and high traffic speed.
In addition, children constantly waving their hands towards vehicles also causes distraction for drivers, which can lead to dangerous situations, affecting many people at the same time.
The Traffic Police Department of Quang Tri Provincial Police recommends that parents, families and schools should regularly remind, manage and educate children not to gather, play, wave hands on the sidewalk or on the road; and at the same time guide children on observation skills, crossing the road in the right places, especially during peak hours and after school hours.
For traffic participants, functional forces request to reduce speed, pay attention to observation when passing through residential areas and schools; strictly comply with legal regulations on traffic order and safety, do not speed or overtake recklessly to ensure safety for themselves and the community.
