On the morning of February 24, the Traffic Maintenance Board (Hanoi Department of Transport) coordinated with relevant units to adjust and reorganize traffic at the Tran Huu Duc - Nguyen Van Giap intersection (Nam Tu Liem district) to reduce conflict and congestion.
Accordingly, the authorities have piloted the barrier to the Tran Huu Duc - Nguyen Van Giap intersection, and turned off traffic lights at this intersection.
Vehicles that want to turn from Tran Huu Duc Street to Nguyen Van Giap must turn around at the opening points.
Mr. Nguyen Van Manh (34 years old, Nam Tu Liem, Hanoi) said that traveling through the two intersections of Nguyen Van Giap - Tran Huu Duc and Trinh Van Bo - Phuc Dien was quite convenient during this morning's rush hour.
"People only have to wait for 2-3 red lights with a time of about 5 minutes to get out of the intersection, there is no longer a long traffic jam on this route like before" - Mr. Manh said.
According to Lao Dong's records during rush hour this morning, after the traffic was reorganized, the congestion at the two intersections of Nguyen Van Giap - Tran Huu Duc and Trinh Van Bo - Phuc Dien has cooled down compared to before.
From early morning, the Traffic Police force was present to regulate and divert traffic at the intersection on the first day of the pilot so that people could travel conveniently on the Trinh Van Bo - Tran Huu Duc road.
The Traffic Maintenance Board also assessed the traffic situation on the Trinh Van Bo - Tran Huu Duc road as relatively favorable after the traffic reorganization at the Tran Huu Duc - Nguyen Van Giap intersection.
This agency said it will continue to monitor and evaluate the traffic situation on the route, if there are any shortcomings, it will make adjustments to suit the reality.
Previously, according to people's feedback, since October 2024, the Trinh Van Bo - Tran Huu Duc route has continuously experienced prolonged congestion, making it difficult for people to travel.
"Previously, there was no traffic jam on this route, but since adjusting the traffic light signal at the Nguyen Van Giap - Tran Huu Duc and Trinh Van Bo - Phuc Dien intersections, it has been continuously congested" - Ms. Le Thi Hoai (32 years old, Nam Tu Liem) said.
At many times, the line of cars was congested until the middle of Xuan Phuong overpass, about 1km. Due to the long traffic jam, drivers of cars and motorbikes had to weave around to find a way.
"The road has up to 8 lanes, so it has become chaotic, people go on the sidewalk, and go in many opposite directions. The Traffic Police force struggled to regulate the vehicle," said Ms. Hoai.
