Hanoi Metro switches to a new electronic ticketing system from February 1, 2026, the entire Nhon - Hanoi Station route will apply the identification system.

From February 1, 2026, 100% of ticket gates on the Nhon - Hanoi Station urban railway line will apply electronic identification, authentication and biometric identification systems.

Information from Hanoi Railway One Member Limited Liability Company (Hanoi Metro) said that from January 17, 2026, the unit will stop selling tickets belonging to the old system on route 3.1 Nhon - Hanoi Station. Passengers can buy tickets according to the new system through the Hanoi Metro Application or directly at ticket counters at stations.

For time tickets (day tickets, week tickets, monthly tickets), passengers are allowed to buy tickets many days in advance and tickets are only activated when used for the first time.

From February 1, 2026, the entire ticket gate on route 3.1 Nhon - Hanoi Station will operate according to the new identification system. After this time, tickets belonging to the old ticket sales system will no longer be valid.

Hanoi Metro also implements free conversion support for weekly and monthly tickets that are still valid in the old system, preserving 100% of the ticket value. The conversion is carried out from January 17, 2026 to the end of January 28, 2026, with direct support from station staff.

During the conversion period, stations will still maintain at least one ticket gate using the old system until January 28, 2026 to ensure smooth passenger travel.

From January 17, 2026 to the end of March 21, 2026, passengers who buy tickets through the Hanoi Metro Application will continue to be supported 100% of the ticket price. In particular, passengers using international Visa payment cards to pass through the ticket gate will also be supported 100% of the ticket price until the end of February 28, 2026.
