On January 17, the People's Committee of Son La province announced restrictions on traffic on National Highway 6, the section passing through Moc Chau district, to serve the ceremony to announce the establishment of Moc Chau town.

Accordingly, at 8:00 p.m. on January 18, the Ceremony to announce the establishment of Moc Chau town and the arrangement and establishment of commune-level administrative units in Moc Chau town will take place at 8.5 Square, Moc Chau town.

To ensure order and traffic safety for the ceremony, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Son La province announced to limit traffic on National Highway 6, through Moc Chau district.

Restrict trucks over 3.5 tons and passenger cars over 30 seats from 7:00 p.m. on January 18 to 0:00 a.m. on January 19. Restricted route from Km183+00 (in the area of ​​sub-region 70, Moc Chau Farm town, Moc Chau district) to Km194+00 (in the area of ​​sub-region 14, Moc Chau town, Moc Chau district).

Previously, on November 14, 2024, the National Assembly Standing Committee issued Resolution No. 1280/NQ-UBTVQH15 on the arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units in Son La province for the 2023-2025 period.

Accordingly, Moc Chau town was established on the basis of the entire natural area of ​​1,072.09 km2 and population of 148,259 people of Moc Chau district. Regarding the administrative units, Moc Chau town has 15 commune-level administrative units, including 8 wards and 7 communes.
