On July 12, Da Huoai 2 Commune People's Committee (Lam Dong province) said that it had issued a notice restricting vehicles with large tonnage from circulating through Ba Vi bridge (hamlet 2) to ensure traffic safety and protect the structure of the project.
According to Da Huoai 2 Commune People's Committee, Ba Vi bridge has deteriorated, showing many signs of damage, affecting its load-bearing capacity and posing a potential risk of unsafety, especially for vehicles with large tonnage.
According to the notice, from the date of issuance to the time of the new notice, vehicles with a total load of over 1.5 tons and a height of over 2.25m are not allowed to circulate through Ba Vi bridge.
Da Huoai 2 Commune People's Committee assigned the Economic Department to take the lead in inspecting the current status of the bridge, advising on safety assurance solutions, and at the same time proposing repair and remediation plans according to regulations.
The commune police are assigned to strengthen patrols, inspections, and guide traffic diversion in the Ba Vi bridge area and related routes; strictly handle cases of intentionally circulating in violation of regulations, arbitrarily dismantling barriers or having acts of damaging works.
According to Mr. Nguyen Hung Cuong - Vice Chairman of Da Huoai 2 Commune People's Committee, Ba Vi bridge spans the Da Huoai River, connecting the commune center with a specialized durian growing area of thousands of hectares.
Currently, the locality is entering the peak durian harvest season, and the volume of vehicles transporting agricultural products is increasing.
However, because the bridge has deteriorated and poses a potential safety risk, the Commune People's Committee decided to restrict vehicles with large tonnage from passing through the bridge.
Local authorities request transport units, businesses and vehicle operators to proactively choose alternative routes such as Thanh Hai bridge or Dinh Cong Trang street to ensure safety during the bridge repair waiting time.
