The Hanoi People's Committee has recently issued a decision on approving the investment policy for the Le Trong Tan and National Highway 6 intersection overpass construction investment project (Ha Dong district).
According to the decision, the project to invest in the construction of an overpass with a scale of 4 lanes on Le Trong Tan Street - Van Khe Street; to build an overpass with a main span and a steel approach span, with a total global length of about 883m.
At the same time, cutting sidewalks to expand the traffic route, reorganize traffic, traffic lights at intersections and build and move technical infrastructure works, trees to ensure traffic safety and urban aesthetics.
The Hanoi People's Committee assigned the Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board as the investor. The project belongs to group B with a total estimated investment of nearly 880 billion VND, implemented in the period of 2026-2028.

According to Lao Dong, the intersection of Le Trong Tan Street and National Highway 6 receives a huge volume of traffic every day, including many heavy trucks passing regularly.
Here, the Traffic Police force is regularly on duty to direct traffic and regulate traffic to reduce congestion and conflicts between traffic flows.
Mr. Vo Quoc Thinh (25 years old, Ha Dong district) said that the intersection of Le Trong Tan street and National Highway 6 is often congested during rush hour, although the authorities have repeatedly reorganized traffic, the congestion has not shown any signs of abating.
Faced with increasing traffic pressure, Mr. Thinh said that building an overpass at this intersection is also one of the solutions that can help reduce traffic congestion in the area.

In early 2025, the Hanoi Department of Construction also proposed to build 5 more overpasses at 5 intersections in the city.
The 5 intersections proposed to soon implement the construction of overpasses are the intersections of Co Linh - Thach Ban (Long Bien district), Chau Van Liem - Le Quang Dao (Nam Tu Liem district), Hoang Minh Giam - Nguyen Tuan (Thanh Xuan district), Co Bi - Ngo Xuan Quang and Nguyen Huy Nhuan - Ly Thanh Tong (all in Gia Lam district).
The authorities assessed that these are areas with large traffic volume, often causing congestion during rush hour. The implementation of the construction of light overpasses is an effective solution to solve the congestion at these intersections.

In fact, the plan to build light overpasses at intersections has shown clear effectiveness, helping to solve many "black spots" of congestion in Hanoi.
In 2012, due to the frequent congestion at the Tay Son - Chua Boc and Lang Ha - Thai Ha intersections (Dong Da district), Hanoi considered the option of building a light overpass with a steel structure to reduce congestion.
The two steel overpasses at Tay Son - Chua Boc intersection and Lang Ha - Thai Ha have been in operation since April 2012, after 100 days of construction. Both projects are designed for motorbikes and cars.
From the effectiveness of the first two projects, many other light overpasses have been built by the city.
Most recently, Hanoi has put into use the C-shaped overpass project connecting Chua Boc - Pham Ngoc Thach. The bridge is over 300m long, 9m wide, with an investment capital of 150 billion VND, completed after 21 months of construction. This is considered an important traffic project, urgently solving traffic congestion for the capital.
