On the morning of March 17, Mr. Nguyen Khac Viet - Director of Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet Expressway Project - said that units are coordinating to check KPI (main performance indicators) and fix software and equipment errors during toll collection operation on this expressway.
To date, most system errors have been handled, the system is expected to stabilize after about 30 days of operation when the parameters are gradually adjusted.

According to Mr. Viet, units are currently deploying undergrounding and concrete pouring on cable lines to transmit data from the camera system on the expressway to the Operation Center and toll stations.
The floating of data cables at locations leads to theft, even some sections are burned, directly affecting transmission lines and toll collection and monitoring systems," Mr. Viet added.

Previously, from 10 pm on March 2, 2026, 2 Phan Thiet - Dau Giay and Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressways passing through Lam Dong province and 3 other routes officially organized toll collection.
After that, Road Management Zone IV conducted actual inspections and recorded many shortcomings affecting toll collection management, revenue control and traffic safety assurance.

Notably, on the afternoon of March 13, at the Phan Thiet toll station at the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway intersection (section through Ham Kiem commune, Lam Dong province), prolonged congestion occurred. The cause was determined to be a technical malfunction in the barrier system.
Station staff had to use their phones to take pictures of license plates and manually enter them into the system to deduct money later. Manual handling caused the time to pass through the station to be prolonged, and vehicles lined up on the expressway.

On March 17, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee said that Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Hai had sent a document to the Ministry of Construction on resolving traffic congestion at non-stop toll stations on 2 expressways passing through the area.
According to the document, after the toll collection was implemented, local congestion appeared at intersections in front of the station area. The preliminary cause was determined to be a system error causing vehicles not to record input signals, leading to congestion.

In the context of high traffic volume on expressways passing through Lam Dong, especially on weekends and holidays, the risk of congestion may increase if not handled promptly.
Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee proposed that the Ministry of Construction direct the Vietnam Road Administration and Road Management Zone IV to urgently review the non-stop automatic toll collection system, including equipment and software. This is to soon overcome shortcomings, stabilize toll collection operations, and contribute to ensuring smooth and safe traffic on expressways.
