After many years of waiting, the appearance along Cach Mang Thang Tam and Truong Chinh streets has completely changed. According to actual records, the compensation, support and site clearance of Metro Line 2 project (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong) has now reached a rate of 100%. The rows of adjacent houses that were previously dismantled have been removed, opening up airy space for construction deployment.

At key intersections such as Dan Chu station, Le Thi Rieng Park station or Bay Hien station, the barrier system that once haunted traffic has now been removed. Units are completing the final technical infrastructure treatment stages to hand over white ground. It is expected that the entire relocation of electricity, water, and telecommunications will be completed to officially start the project on January 15.

Metro Line No. 2 has a total length of nearly 11.27 km, including 10 underground stations and 1 elevated station, passing through 14 wards in the central area and Northwest gateway of Ho Chi Minh City. Although approved in 2010, due to many problems, the project has been delayed many times. The most important turning point is the city's decision to switch to using public investment capital instead of ODA capital to be completely proactive in operation.

In the Tham Luong Depot area, District 12 area, the operating building has basically completed the architectural part. This will be the most modern operating center with GoA4 control technology - the highest level of automation today, allowing the train to run completely unmanned. This system ensures absolute safety and accuracy for the entire cross-center journey.

According to the roadmap of the Urban Railway Management Authority (MAUR), units will focus on building the entire line in about 57 months. The goal is to complete the entire project by the end of 2030. Notably, compared to the 12-year construction time of Metro Line No. 1, the progress of Line No. 2 has been shortened by more than 2.5 times, showing Ho Chi Minh City's determination to accelerate infrastructure.
Regarding operational efficiency, Metro Line 2 will become the "backbone" to solve the problem of congestion along the Ben Thanh - Cach Mang Thang Tam - Truong Chinh corridor. According to MAUR calculations, right in the early stages of operation, this line can carry up to 140,000 passengers/day, nearly 3 times the number of passengers currently using Line 1.

Connecting the central area with the Northwest not only improves the quality of life for people but also shapes the urban development space according to the TOD model. Land around underground stations will be exploited to form bustling service and commercial spaces, contributing to increasing urban value and reducing population pressure for the inner city.
