Can Tho City People's Committee has just issued an official dispatch to review, repair, and patch damaged roads to ensure traffic safety during the rainy and flood season in the area.
According to the Official Dispatch, in recent times, with complicated weather conditions, prolonged heavy rain, high tides in the center of Can Tho City and some localities, causing local flooding, damaging the road surface, creating deep holes (potholes, elephant holes), causing water stagnation, causing traffic insecurity and affecting people's traffic participation.
To protect the project and ensure traffic safety during the storm season, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City assigned the Department of Construction to coordinate with authorities at all levels and related units to strengthen inspection, patrol, timely detection and immediate handling of damage on the road surface.
Strengthen road and bridge surface cleaning, do not let garbage accumulate causing culverts; at the same time, dredge drainage systems on roads to limit local flooding, ensuring smooth traffic during the rainy and stormy season.
Focus on reinforcing the road surface at frequent flooded areas; promptly repair and maintain damaged areas (such as Nguyen Phuong Danh Park, Phong Dien Commune); speed up the progress of repairing degraded roads and proactively put up signs and information for people on road sections under repair or where deep holes have just appeared.
Strengthen on-site monitoring during heavy rains, proactively coordinate rescue, guide traffic flow, and reduce congestion at flooded areas. At the same time, develop a traffic diversion plan, prepare materials, equipment and standing forces to promptly repair damage, ensure smooth and safe traffic.
Proactively inspect, patrol roads, and patrol to promptly detect damage on National Highways during the storm season; quickly report to competent authorities to immediately repair and fix damaged and flooded areas, ensuring traffic safety.
