30 years of Mui Ne being awakened, from complete daylight to the resort capital by the blue sea

Lam Dong - From a pristine sea area, after the total sunset on October 24, 1995, Mui Ne was suddenly awakened and lit up on the tourism map.

This day, 30 years ago, the moonlight began to cover the sun at 9:38 am, reaching its peak at 11:13 am and closing at nearly 1 pm. The center of the solar system is located in the East Sea, while on land, Phan Thiet is the place where this rare phenomenon can be most clearly observed.

Phan Thiet at that time was a small coastal town, famous for its fish sauce specialties but had not yet developed strong tourism. The sunset event has seen a huge number of visitors for the first time in this peaceful coastal area.

Magical natural moments attract tourists

Thousands of tourists, scientists, and photographers from home and abroad flocked here. The white sand roads are packed with people carrying filter glasses, cameras, and observation equipment. In the moment of darkness, the Phan Thiet - Mui Ne sea area became the center of the world.

But what remains behind that solar ecstasy is not just astronomical memories, but a fresh start.

For the first time, international visitors have witnessed the wild beauty of Mui Ne with its shiny golden sand hills, coconut fields reflecting on the blue sea, the rustic fishing village and the sunlight all year round. The emotions from the majestic natural phenomenon seem to have " awakened" the Forgotten tourism potential of this land.

Mui Ne is awakened

The first investors have arrived, coastal resorts have sprung up, laying the foundation for the journey to turn Mui Ne into the "resort capital" of Vietnam. Since then, the brand "Green Sea - White Sand - Golden Sun" has become the unique mark of Mui Ne - Phan Thiet.

After 30 years, Mui Ne tourism has not only brought new vitality to the local economy but also reshaped the face of an entire land.

Coastal communes and wards are gradually forming many resorts, high-end resorts, tourist areas, and entertainment spots. Along with that, coastal transport infrastructure, highways, seaports and Phan Thiet airport (civil project under implementation) have opened up new development space, making it easy for tourists to come to Mui Ne.

In particular, in 2018, the Prime Minister approved the Master Plan for the development of Mui Ne National Tourist Area until 2025, with a vision to 2030, with an area of over 14,700 hectares. Since then, Mui Ne has been officially upgraded to a National Tourist Area, putting its name on the map of key destinations in Vietnam.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa - Provisional Chairman of Lam Dong Tourism Association, there are currently 9 recognized national tourist areas nationwide, of which Lam Dong owns two national tourist areas: Mui Ne and Ho Tuyen Lam. Both of these areas have strong development potential, with unique tourism products and their own identity. In the new period, Mui Ne tourism needs to transform towards green and sustainability, focusing on restructuring the model, associated with the demand for experiential tourism and high-end resorts, Mr. Khoa emphasized.

Mui Ne shines on the tourism map with diverse types

Three decades since the magical moment of nature, Mui Ne now shines on the tourism map with a variety of types: Sea and entertainment tourism, adventure - sports tourism, health care tourism, resorts, tourism combined with work and relaxation (MICE).

These are considered directions in line with market trends, contributing to diversifying products and enhancing the attractiveness of provincial tourism in the new period.

Millions of visitors flock here every year not only to relax but also to experience the feeling of immersion in nature. The lives of coastal residents and workers in the area have changed significantly thanks to the development of the economy and tourism services.

From the first resorts in the middle of the coconut field, Mui Ne has now become a symbol of modern Vietnam tourism. The increasingly developed infrastructure and tourism real estate have demonstrated the harmony between nature, people and the vision of sustainable development.

October 24, the date once associated with the full moon in 1995, was chosen as Binh Thuan Tourism Day as a reminder of a historic moment. When the light not only returns after the solstice, but also opens the dawn for an entire destination called the Cape of Dreams.
