The project to build Tu Lien Bridge and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge was approved by the Hanoi People's Committee in Decision No. 1291/QD-UBND dated March 30, 2020.
Recently, the Hanoi People's Committee assigned the Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Construction and Consulting Units to organize the preparation of a feasibility study report for the Tu Lien Bridge project and the road from Tu Lien Bridge to the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen Expressway.
According to the project's feasibility study report, Tu Lien Bridge and the road from Tu Lien Bridge to Hanoi - Thai Nguyen Expressway have a total length of about 11.5km, from Nghi Tam intersection to Ring Road 3 intersection (Hanoi - Thai Nguyen Expressway).
Of which, Tu Lien Bridge is 2.9km long, the main bridge is 1km long, the cross-section scale according to the plan ensures 6 lanes for motor vehicles, 2 mixed lanes and 2 walking lanes.
The bridge has a main span across the Red River, connecting the west bank of the Red River along the Au Co - Nghi Tam route in Yen Phu and Tu Lien wards, Tay Ho district with the east bank of the Red River in Dong Anh district.
The total preliminary investment of the project is more than 20,000 billion VND. The project will be implemented in the period of 2025 - 2027.
According to the investment preparation plan for the Tu Lien bridge project agreed upon by Hanoi departments, the bridge construction design is still kept unchanged according to the cable-stayed architectural plan and the rotating pillar.
Up to now, the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board has basically completed the procedures for the city to start the construction of Tu Lien Bridge tomorrow (May 19).
The groundbreaking ceremony will start at 7am, in the area before the intersection with Truong Sa Street (Km4+400), Dong Hoi Commune, Dong Anh District, Hanoi.

Regarding site clearance to implement the Tu Lien Bridge construction project and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge, a representative of the Tay Ho District Construction Investment Project Management Board said that the boundary for site clearance projects in the district is in 3 wards of Yen Phu, Quang An, and Tu Lien.
The total area of recovered land and cleared land is expected to be about 266,524.1m2. The total number of cases of land acquisition is 558 cases (322 cases of residential land; 230 cases of agricultural land; 3 cases are organizations and 3 cases are public land).
In Tay Ho district, there are 194 cases in need of resettlement (of which Quang An ward has 84 cases; Yen Phu ward has 56 cases and Tu Lien ward has 54 cases). The total cost of site clearance is more than VND 2,884 billion.
In Long Bien district, up to now, the work of reviewing the total area of land to be recovered has been basically completed. Accordingly, the total land area within the boundary is 73,794.05m2. Regarding residential land related to 63 households with an area of about 7,700m2. Agricultural land related to 15 households with an area of about 4,175m2.
In Dong Anh district, the total area of land recovered and cleared is expected to be about 261,100m2.

The formation of an inner-city bridge across the Red River will help reduce traffic congestion on routes from the inner city to the northern provinces, forming the third gateway along the Thang Long Bridge and Nhat Tan Bridge, from Noi Bai International Airport to the city center.
Tu Lien Bridge will also directly serve the development of Hanoi's urban area to the North, expand the population density of the city center, and contribute to the sustainable development of the capital...
