The Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) informed that after half a month of implementing Decree 168/2024/ND-CP, the traffic order and safety situation has clearly changed, traffic accidents have decreased in all 3 criteria, and traffic has become more orderly.

Notably, nationwide there were 681 traffic accidents, killing 365 people and injuring 453 people, compared to the same period, a decrease of 355 cases, 47 deaths, and 426 injuries: compared to the previous period (15 days ago), a decrease of 347 cases, 94 deaths, and 301 injuries.

Previously, at the 41st session of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong said that since the Decree regulating administrative sanctions for violations of road traffic order and safety took effect, people's awareness has improved.

Sharing the same view, Chairman of the Economic Committee Vu Hong Thanh said that, through monitoring, the spillover effect of Decree 168 on implementing the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety is very positive.

"After just one day of implementation, our people's awareness of traffic safety compliance has improved," he emphasized.

Giving his opinion afterwards, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that the authorities should strictly implement the provisions of the Decree on penalties for traffic violations. Propaganda and dissemination work needs to be strengthened, especially through the media, agencies and organizations to each household and each citizen.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man suggested that with related laws, the Government and the Ministry of Public Security need to act resolutely and decisively and at the same time must propagate so that people understand.

Besides, National Assembly deputies need to strengthen their grasp of voters' and people's opinions to proactively fight against propaganda and distortions of hostile forces that cause division.

Previously, social networks spread information that "Decree 168/2024/ND-CP was built with incorrect procedures because from the date of signing to the date of taking effect, less than 45 days have passed."

A representative of the Traffic Police Department confirmed that the above information is incorrect. A representative of the Traffic Police Department said that Decree 168/2024/ND-CP was signed and issued on December 26, 2024, effective from January 1, 2025.

During the drafting process of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP to replace Decree 100/2019/ND-CP (amending and supplementing Decree 123/2021/ND-CP), due to the urgent nature related to the traffic safety and order situation, the competent authority held meetings to consider and decide to issue the decree in a shortened procedure.
