In the 4 days of New Year holiday 2026, Tuyen Quang province welcomed nearly 140,000 tourists, most of whom came to visit and experience in the communes of the Dong Van Karst Plateau region. This number is only slightly less than the 9-day Tet At Ty 2025 holiday.
In fact, for decades, National Highway 4C has remained a vital road leading to communes in the Dong Van Karst Plateau region. In recent years, although it has been upgraded and repaired, the road surface is still quite narrow, many damaged locations have not been repaired in time, combined with sharp curves and steep slopes, which have often led to local traffic jams.
According to PV's records on January 1st, although it is not yet the day with the largest number of tourists coming to highland communes, National Highway 4C has seen some local congestion points, especially the section passing through Quan Ba and Yen Minh communes.
At sharp corners, with steep slopes, the road surface is plowed, leading to vehicles losing grip, causing traffic difficulties. In particular, trucks, tractor-trailers, and passenger cars with large lengths and tonnage when moving through these corners are often hit or stalled, leading to localized traffic jams.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang (Hanoi City) said that in the morning of January 1 alone, he was stuck up to 2 times at the curves on National Highway 4C, the section belonging to Quan Ba commune. The waiting time each time is nearly 30 minutes.
The tractor-trailer has a large tonnage, the body is long, so it is very difficult to move through at sharp corners, many vehicles have to be pulled up by other vehicles, each turn is very time-consuming. Some sections have very bad road surfaces," Mr. Hoang shared.
After the floods at the end of September and the beginning of October 2025, landslides and damage appeared at many locations on National Highway 4C. Up to now, remedial work is still underway, although functional agencies have adjusted the work and limited construction during the holidays, local congestion on the route still occurs.

In addition, congestion at tourist and sightseeing spots along National Highway 4C such as Tham Ma slope, Ma Pi Leng pass peak, buckwheat flower photography spots... often occurs due to lack or lack of parking locations.
The situation of cars and motorbikes parked all over the road, even occupying the part of vehicles going in the opposite direction at tourist and photo spots, has frequently caused local traffic jams. This has made many tourists quite tired.
I had to get my family out of the car, walking nearly 1km from the Tham Ma slope area because it was too congested. Hundreds of cars lined up waiting, many cars turned off their engines, parked next to the road and walked up to the tourist spot. When I reached the top of the slope, I saw cars parked along the road, even spilling onto the road, that was also the cause of the congestion," Mr. Hung (Hung Yen province) complained.

According to an officer of Pho Cao Commune Police on duty to divert traffic at Tham Ma slope, local congestion in this area occurs frequently, especially on weekends or holidays when the number of visitors increases.
If there is no police, grassroots order standing to divert traffic, regulate and guide tourists to park, it will be immediately congested, this section is small road, sharp curves and steep slopes, just need 1 car to go to the top of the slope and the cars behind cannot move," said Pho Cao Commune Police officer.
It is known that the Project to repair damage to the foundation, road surface and works of sections Km62+100 - Km80 and Km88 - Km95+700 on National Highway 4C with a total investment of nearly 70.7 billion VND invested by the Tuyen Quang Provincial Department of Construction is underway.
