At the thematic session (52nd session) on April 29, the Hanoi People's Council approved the investment policy for the Ngoc Hoi Bridge and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge.
According to the submission of the Hanoi People's Committee, the total length of Ngoc Hoi bridge is about 7.5km, of which Hanoi is about 5.4km and Hung Yen province is about 2.1km.
Starting point Km0+00 connects with the end point of the Ring Road 3.5 section Phuc La - Van Phu to Phap Van - Cau Gie Expressway, about 360m from the expressway towards Huu Hong De, in Thanh Tri, Hanoi. The end point of Km7+500 connects with Ring Road 3.5 about 700 m from the Ta Hong dike towards the Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway in Van Giang, Hung Yen province.
The main bridge across the Red River is about 680m long, 32.3m wide, ensuring 6 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 lanes for mixed vehicles. The approach bridge is about 6.52km long and 33m wide. The approach road to the Hung Yen bridge is about 300m long and 33m wide.
The technical infrastructure system is synchronized with sidewalks, lighting, traffic organization, trees, renovation and relocation of underground technical infrastructure.
The project was approved with 5 component projects, including 3 component projects on compensation, support, and resettlement in Thanh Tri and Gia Lam districts (Hanoi) in Van Giang district (Hung Yen).
The other two projects include the construction of a parallel road system in Hanoi and Van Giang district (Hung Yen) along with the Ngoc Hoi bridge construction project and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge implemented by the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board.
The project has a total estimated investment of more than 11,800 billion VND, implemented in the period of 2025 - 2028.
The Hanoi People's Council Urban Committee believes that Ngoc Hoi Bridge belongs to the city's Ring Road 3.5, so the investment in the construction of the bridge will complete the planning of this route.
When Ring Road 3.5 and Ngoc Hoi Bridge are completed, it will create a direct connection with Hung Yen and synchronize with the radial road system, helping to divert traffic, reducing the situation of vehicles from the North, West - North to East - South having to move through the city center, thereby reducing the risk of congestion on existing routes such as Ring Road 3, Liberation Road (National Highway 1A) and Road 70.
Ngoc Hoi Bridge is expected to increase connectivity between Hanoi Capital and Hung Yen Province, new urban areas, creating conditions for socio-economic development in the southern part of the city, as well as the southern and southeastern provinces of the Capital Region such as Hung Yen, Ha Nam, Bac Ninh.
Recently, the Hanoi People's Committee approved the results of the entrance exam for the architectural design of Ngoc Hoi bridge. Accordingly, the first prize is the " Sun Gate" option with code NH-02 (CT0203) designed by the large bridge - tunnel design consulting firm.
