On May 10, the Office of the People's Committee of Son La province announced that the Provincial People's Council has just approved a Resolution approving the policy of converting the purpose of using 20.3 hectares of forest to other purposes to implement the Provincial Road 120C Construction Investment Project, the section passing through Yen Chau and Bac Yen districts.
Accordingly, the conversion forest area includes protection forests (2.32 ha), production forests (16 hectares) and forest forest planning (1.98 ha). The origin of forest formation includes 17.31 ha of natural forests and 2.99 ha of planted forests. The project will go through 6 communes in two districts: Yen Chau and Bac Yen, with a total of 138 lots of affected forests.
In Bac Yen district, the converted area is 7.62 hectares, distributed in Hua Nhan and Ta Khoa communes. Meanwhile, Yen Chau district has a total of 12.68 hectares affected, belonging to Chieng Dong, Chieng Pan, Sap Vat communes and Vientiane commune.
According to Resolution No. 319 dated May 16, 2024 of the People's Council of Son La province, term XV, the investment project to build provincial road 120C will be implemented in the period of 2025 - 2028, with a total length of about 34 km.
The starting point of the route connects with Chu Van An Street in Yen Chau town, Yen Chau district; the end point connects with National Highway 37 in the Ta Khoa bridge area, Ta Khoa commune, Bac Yen district.
The project has a construction scale according to the standards of a grade IV mountainous road (with signs), with a minimum road surface of 3.5 m, a roadbed of 6.5 m wide, and a sidewalk on each side of the road of 1.5 m. The works on the route are built permanently, in accordance with the characteristics of the terrain and ensuring traffic safety.
The goal of the project is to gradually complete the planned traffic infrastructure, creating a smooth connection between Yen Chau - Bac Yen districts, breaking the monopoly of National Highway 37, shortening travel time, promoting goods exchange and socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security in the area.
The total investment of the project is 700 billion VND from the provincial budget, of which 175 billion VND is expected to be disbursed in 2025, and 525 billion VND in the 2026 - 2028 period.
