Support pedestrians, ensure traffic safety
On January 26, Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Van Trung - Head of the Traffic Police Department of Quang Tri Province Police said that in the past 3 days, the number of vehicles traveling on National Highway 9 and Ho Chi Minh Road through the area has increased.
In particular, cars from Cam Lo - La Son Expressway moving along National Highway 9 to Ho Chi Minh Road in the South - North direction are congested. It is forecasted that from now until January 28, traffic volume will continue to increase.
Preliminary statistics show that the volume of cars passing through the area increased by about 2/3 compared to normal days and mainly in the South-North direction.

To ensure traffic safety, the Traffic Police Department of Quang Tri Province has increased patrol shifts. If there are usually 6 shifts on each route on normal days, now it has increased to 8 shifts. In addition, additional forces are ready to be on duty and regulate traffic at intersections to avoid congestion.
This unit has also informed the on-duty shifts that if people on the way home have a broken car or run out of gas, they will provide support. If people get sick while traveling, the force will use special vehicles to help take them to a medical facility.
"We will try to support people to return home to celebrate Tet safely" - Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Van Trung said.
Choose Ho Chi Minh road because there are few vehicles and no traffic jams.
On the Ho Chi Minh road through Cam Lo district (Quang Tri province) on the morning of January 26, there were quite a lot of cars traveling from South to North with license plates from other provinces.
Ms. Le Lan Anh (from Nghe An province) and her family came to Ho Chi Minh City to start a business. This time, she, her husband and two children returned to their hometown to celebrate Tet in their personal car.
With a distance of 1,100km from Ho Chi Minh City to Quang Tri, her family traveled for 2 days, stopping to rest along the way whenever they were tired, preparing food in the car. When leaving Cam Lo - La Son highway, they followed National Highway 9 to get on Ho Chi Minh road, arriving at Cam Lo district early in the morning, stopping to refuel, clean up, and then continuing the journey.
“There are still about 300km left to get home, so my family chose Ho Chi Minh Road to travel because there are fewer vehicles than National Highway 1, so there will likely be no traffic jams,” Lan Anh shared.
According to Ms. Lan Anh, along the 1,100km journey, she encountered many traffic police checkpoints from various provinces and cities, some of which even provided drinking water and banh mi. Thanks to the traffic police, all vehicles obeyed the law and drove at the correct speed, so her family felt quite secure during the trip.
