Lack of materials, contractors still strive to build bridges to keep up with the progress of the expressway

Can Tho - The entire Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway has constructed 96/100 bridges, many bridges are about to be completed and open to traffic in August.

Component project 4 of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway project passing through the old Soc Trang province (Component project 4) has a total length of more than 58 km, including 46 bridges over the river, fields and routes. To date, contractors have implemented the construction of 44/46 bridges.

Recorded at overpass No. 27, under package No. 11, Component Project 4, workers are urgently deploying the remaining items such as completing, paving concrete 2 bridge slopes, railings to complete and open to traffic in time in August.

Mr. Tran Anh Tuan - Truong Son Construction Corporation, Commander of Package No. 11 - said that up to now, all 12 bridges under the package have been deployed simultaneously. In particular, strive to open overpasses 27 and 34 in August 2025. The remaining 10 bridges have completed the bridge deck and railings.

Mr. Phung Ngoc Manh - representative of Brigade 99, Corps 12, Truong Son Construction Corporation - informed that the unit is taking charge of the construction of 3 bridges on the route. Currently, 2 out of 3 bridges under the management of the unit have completed the bridge deck, the railing section has reached about 90%. The construction of the remaining bridge is being accelerated with the construction of the lower structure, girders, and piers. The overall progress of bridge items is currently basically meeting the requirements.

Mr. Manh said that to ensure progress, all forces were arranged to work in 3 shifts, 4 teams, not afraid of the sun and rain. The construction site has been fully arranged with temporary accommodation and accommodation for about 150 workers, to ensure health and maintain construction manpower, with the goal of completing the project on schedule, serving the travel needs and socio-economic development of local people.

At bridge No. 22, package No. 10 of Component Project 4, more than 50 engineers and workers are also constructing the surface and railing. This bridge crosses National Highway 1A, the section passing through My Xuyen Ward, Can Tho City. Mr. Hoang Ngoc Giang, technical officer of the site of Dat Phuong Group Joint Stock Company, said that bridge No. 22 is expected to be completed in August. Bridge No. 29 belongs to the same package that was completed earlier.

According to the Management Board of the Can Tho City Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project, the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway Construction Investment Project Phase 1, the section through Can Tho City (after the merger) includes component projects 2, 3 and 4, with a total length of 132.47 km, a total investment of nearly 31,300 billion VND.

All 3 component projects have a total of 11 construction packages. As of the end of July 2025, the overall construction progress has reached nearly 42% of the volume value. Of which, Component Project 2 reached nearly 40.5%, Component 3 reached 45.83% and Component 4 about 40%. Currently, the progress of bridge projects on the route has reached and exceeded the set plan, 96/100 bridges have been constructed on the route, the remaining bridges will be deployed in 2025.

According to the Management Board, the total demand for sand for all three component projects of about 21.1 million m3 has so far been determined to be more than 14 million m3, of which about 5.6 million m3 have been exploited and transported to the project. The nearly 7 million m3 still lacking is continuing to contact localities such as An Giang, Dong Thap, Vinh Long to carry out exploitation procedures and supplement sand sources for the project.

The investor is also directing consulting units and construction contractors to coordinate in surveying, studying and adjusting the design and construction measures appropriately, in order to shorten the progress and ensure the completion of the project in accordance with the requirements of the Prime Minister.
