On the afternoon of October 4, Hanoi Railway Company Limited (Hanoi Metro) informed that the unit is implementing phase 2 to test the electronic identification, authentication and biometric identification system on urban railway line No. 2A.
This activity is included in plan No. 428/KH-BCA-BXD-UBNDHN dated July 16, 2025 of the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Construction and the People's Committee of Hanoi City.
In phase 1 (September 20 - 30, 2025), Hanoi Metro has tested at 12 stations, with 65 ticket gateways. Authentication methods include: Citizen identification card (CCCD) with chip, QR code on mobile application, NFC technology and payment via EMV card. The group of passengers participating includes elderly people using chip-embedded ID cards (exempted from tickets) and regular passengers using single-trip tickets and daily tickets.
According to Hanoi Metro, the pilot phase has attracted a large number of people and received many practical comments - an important basis for continuing to improve the service.
Entering phase 2 (from October 4 to 15, 2025), the unit will maintain the same testing scope as the previous phase but add weekly tickets on the "Hanoi Metro" application and expand the use of chip-embedded CCCD/CCCD for passengers under 60 years old.
Testing new features is to better meet the travel needs of passengers, while improving convenience in service experience, said a representative of Hanoi Metro.
Passengers who want to participate can register directly at the information counter at stations on the route. Participants received gifts from accompanying units including Visa, VietinBank and MoMo e-wallet.
Hanoi Metro hopes to continue to receive comments from passengers, aiming to improve the Safety - Transport - Environmental Friendliness experience, while affirming its commitment to applying modern technology to improve service quality on urban railway lines.
