In the afternoon of January 21, according to traffic participants' records, on the North-South expressway section near Than Vu tunnel, a line of cars and trucks lined up for kilometers.
Some vehicles had to stop and wait, moving meter by meter when passing through the tunnel entrance area, putting great pressure on traffic on the route.
According to initial information, the cause of the congestion originated from a traffic collision that occurred on the route at about 4 pm on the same day.
Functional forces were present to divert traffic and handle the scene to soon restore traffic.
It is known that Than Vu tunnel has a total length of 1.13 km, through Than Vu mountain, Nghe An province, belonging to the Dien Chau - Bai Vot Expressway Project. This item is designed with a scale of 2 separate tunnels, each tunnel width of 13.78 m, the distance between the 2 tunnel centers is 45 m.
In phase 1, the project completes the right branch tunnel pipe for two-way exploitation, and at the same time constructs the tunnel shell and underground drainage system for the left branch tunnel pipe. Phase 2 is currently being implemented, and the entire tunnel will be completed on a scale of 6 motorized lanes.
Traffic participants are advised to proactively monitor information, consider adjusting routes when moving through the Than Vu tunnel area in the direction of Hanoi, and comply with the instructions of functional forces to ensure safety.
