On the morning of January 14, Politburo Member, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Head of the National Steering Committee for International Integration chaired the Conference to summarize the work in 2025 and deploy tasks for 2026 of the Steering Committee.
The Prime Minister said that international integration is a major content of strategic significance in the foreign policy in particular and in the overall national development strategy in general, contributing to thoroughly promoting socio-economic development, consolidating national defense and security, expanding foreign relations, enhancing national position, and ensuring the interests of the nation and people.
Recalling that when implementing the Doi Moi (Renovation) campaign, Vietnam relies on 3 pillars: eliminating bureaucracy and subsidies, implementing a multi-sectoral economy and international integration, the Prime Minister emphasized that the current situation is changing, leading to appropriate and effective changes in behavior.
Therefore, the Politburo has issued Resolution 59-NQ/TW, which identifies thinking, approaches, and new methods to implement international integration, in order to effectively take advantage of favorable conditions and minimize the impact of changes from the international environment.
The consistent viewpoint of international integration is the cause of the entire political system and the entire people under the leadership of the Party and the management of the State; people and businesses are the center, subjects, driving force, and resources for implementing international integration.
The Prime Minister clearly stated that last year, the global trend of economy, investment, and trade decreased. However, with Vietnam, import and export turnover increased, FDI disbursement reached the largest record ever, reaching about 28-29 billion USD, showing the increased confidence of foreign investors in Vietnam's business investment environment; and stimulating domestic investment. The international community highly appreciates Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements.
The conference assessed that the correct and timely direction of the Party has helped shape a new thinking on international integration to meet the requirements and tasks in the new situation.
International economic integration shifts to agile status to adapt to fluctuations, taking advantage of attracting important and breakthrough external resources, contributing to restructuring and innovating a more sustainable and self-reliant growth model.
International integration in politics, defense, and security has many new steps forward, which are the pillar foundation in protecting the Fatherland from early on, from afar, consolidating and expanding the favorable foreign affairs situation, enhancing the country's potential and international position.
International integration in science and technology, innovation and digital transformation is strongly promoted, becoming a focus in cooperation with partners, practically serving the goal of shifting the growth model from breadth to depth.
International integration in culture, society, tourism, environment, education - training, health and other fields has many positive changes, both increasing the country's position and soft power, and effectively serving the goal of sustainable, inclusive development, with people as the center.
Along with that, the improvement of institutions, policies and laws on international integration has been promoted and the strengthening of urging and supervising the implementation of international commitments and agreements has contributed to improving national competitiveness and the country's international integration capacity.
