The Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) in coordination with the Vietnam Journalists Association organized the launching ceremony of the 2nd National Press Award on Gender Equality in 2026, continuing to affirm the important role of the press and media in efforts to promote equality in Vietnam.
Attending the ceremony were: Mr. Nguyen Thi Tuyen - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, President of the Vietnam Women's Union; Nguyen Thi Ha - Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Nguyen Duc Loi - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Ms. Caroline Nyemombe - Chief Representative of the United Nations agency for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women in Vietnam - and nearly 50 journalists.

The 2nd National Press Award on Gender Equality, 2026 is being launched in the context of Vietnam actively implementing Sustainable Development Goals, including goal No. 5 related to promoting gender equality; Vietnam has just held a conference to announce the National Report on 30 years of implementing the Beijing Declaration and Action Plan in Vietnam, marking an important milestone in Vietnam's journey to promote gender equality and empower women.
At the same time, this is also one of the activities within the framework of the strategic partnership between the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union and UN Women to promote a favorable environment for gender equality, empower women and end gender-based violence against women and girls in Vietnam.
In addition, the Press Award was also launched in November - Month of Action for Gender Equality and Prevention and response to Gender-based Violence.
The Press Award will focus on three main topics: Promoting prevention and response to gender-based violence, promoting gender equality in digital transformation and promoting gender equality in economic development. These are key areas, reflecting challenges and efforts in promoting gender equality in Vietnam.

The National Press Award on Gender Equality will select press works in four types of print, electronic, radio and television newspapers that have been licensed by competent State agencies to be published/broadcast on mass media from December 1, 2024 to March 30, 2026, with content that meets the criteria of the award.
In her opening speech, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyen emphasized: The entries need to truly and diversely reflect life, the efforts of all levels, sectors and the whole society, contributing to the achievements of gender equality. Our organizing committee hopes that the works will not only stop at reflecting issues but also propose practical, sustainable solutions, creating positive changes in society.
The press works participating in the award have content and form that does not violate the Press Law and other legal provisions. Works that have participated and received awards at other press awards will not be able to participate in the National Press Award on Gender Equality. Each individual, organization, and press agency shall submit no more than 5 entries to the contest.
The awards of the 2nd National Press Award on Gender Equality include individual and collective awards. The awards for works by authors/groups of authors with 4 types (published newspapers, electronic newspapers, radio, television) with the award structure for each type including 1 A Prize, 1 B Prize, 2 C Prizes, 2 Encouragement Prizes.
Regarding collective awards, the Organizing Committee will award 3 Collective Awards to agencies and units with recommendations, and submit the most quality entries, including Certificates and prizes.
The time to receive entries is from November 27, 2025 to April 5, 2026. The Award ceremony is scheduled to take place in June 2026.
