Taking care of health, sharing difficulties
During the Chol Chnam Thmay Tet holiday, activities to care for Khmer people are implemented practically, including a program of consulting, medical examination and free medicine distribution for about 500 people from poor, near-poor households, and people in difficult circumstances in Binh Phu commune.
The activity not only helps people access basic health services but also contributes to reducing medical examination and treatment costs, especially for families facing many difficulties in life and lacking regular health care.
Among those who came for examination early, Ms. Son Vuong is a typical case of a poor household without land, whose life depends on her husband's hired labor and small-scale trading at the market in the hamlet.
Ms. Vuong said that she is often sick, currently suffering from prolonged abdominal pain but does not have the conditions to go for examination. The family was already difficult, now it is even more burdened when living expenses and medicine are increasing.
My daughter has lung disease, just stayed in the hospital for treatment for more than 10 days before being discharged, the cost is very expensive, so family life is more stressful," Ms. Son Vuong shared.

In the same situation, Ms. Kim Thi Phan said that her family is considered a near-poor household, with income mainly from hired labor, so it is unstable, and life is still very deprived.
Ms. Phan said that she often suffers from joint pain, each time she only dares to buy Western medicine for about 20,000 - 30,000 VND to drink sparingly for about 10 days, when the medicine runs out, the pain recurs.
The pain makes going to work very tiring, and income is also affected. Being examined, given free medicine, and given gifts this time makes me very happy, because I am cared for by the authorities at all levels," Ms. Phan added.
About 5,000 poor and near-poor households are supported during Tet
Mr. Pham Van Cuong - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Vinh Long province said that during this year's Chol Chnam Thmay Tet holiday, the work of caring for Khmer people is concerned and implemented synchronously with many practical forms of support.
According to him, in addition to medical examinations and free medicine distribution, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province also implements many social security programs to support people, especially poor, near-poor, and difficult households in the area.
On this occasion, from the'For the Poor' Fund, the province has supported about 5,000 poor and near-poor households with practical gifts, contributing to helping people celebrate Tet more fully and warmly," Mr. Cuong said.

In addition, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province also promoted the mobilization of businesses and philanthropists to join hands in contributing resources to care for the Khmer people, spreading the spirit of mutual affection in the community.
He added that, up to now, the total budget mobilized from businesses and philanthropists has reached more than 5 billion VND, serving Tet care activities.
This funding is used flexibly for many activities such as giving gifts, supporting medical examination and treatment, free medicine distribution and other social security programs, contributing to helping people stabilize their lives.
Through this, we hope that all people, especially Khmer people, will celebrate the Chol Chnam Thmay Tet in a joyful and warm atmosphere, without leaving anyone behind," Mr. Cuong added.
