This issue was raised by delegate Le Thi Thanh Lam (Hau Giang delegation) when giving comments on socio-economic development in the morning session of June 18 at the National Assembly.
The delegate said that the situation of buying and selling counterfeit, banned, and poor quality goods online is happening seriously.
According to the delegate, although the Minister of Industry and Trade has explained, in just the first 5 months of 2025, more than 34,000 violations were handled, including 1,100 cases related to counterfeit goods.
Emphasizing that this is only a floating part, the delegate pointed out the reality of real businesses being hit by counterfeit goods, market confidence being eroded, and all recovery efforts also becoming difficult.
Therefore, the delegate suggested that the Government and the National Assembly soon review and supplement legal regulations on e-commerce, clarifying the responsibilities of platforms. At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen coordination between functional forces and build an early warning mechanism.
Proactively check instead of waiting for a complaint before taking action. This is necessary to protect businesses from being honest and consumer rights, limiting inspection to the extent it is detected that there are violations.

According to delegate Nguyen Thi Viet Nga (Hai Duong delegation), recently, public opinion has been very concerned about a series of cases of production and trading of counterfeit and poor quality goods that have been discovered and handled by authorities.
The widespread situation of counterfeit and poor quality goods not only seriously affects consumer rights and public health but also leads to huge waste in consumption when people have to spend money to buy products that do not ensure quality and low efficiency.
The delegate stated that the wish of voters and people is that the Government continue to direct competent agencies to promote and regularly maintain the work of preventing and combating the production and trading of counterfeit and poor quality goods.
Accordingly, it is not only at peak times, contributing to protecting consumer rights and improving the efficiency of using social resources.
Delegate Pham Dinh Thanh ( Kon Tum Delegation) warned about the danger and serious consequences of the current situation of fake and poor quality food and medicine, especially when these products have penetrated the hospital system, directly reaching disadvantaged groups.
Recently, the authorities have discovered and handled many cases of smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and goods that infringe intellectual property rights.
Cases related to fake food, fake milk, and medicine of unknown origin have been brought to hospitals in large quantities and provided to vulnerable groups such as the elderly, pregnant women, newborns, and sick people.
This is an act that not only violates the law but also causes outrage and indignation among voters and people nationwide.
Faced with the above situation, the delegate suggested that the National Assembly and the Government should direct more strongly and drastically in supporting authorities, especially strengthening the police force to fight and deal with this type of crime at its root.
He proposed that cases need to be handled strictly, promptly and publicly, including announcing the identities of violating organizations and individuals on mass media to create a deterrent effect.
In particular, in criminal handling, the delegate said that it is necessary to apply severe punishment to criminals, especially famous people, cadres, civil servants - those who are assigned to protect the health and rights of the people but cover up and assist criminals for personal gain.
