Dong Nai - The Tri An Hydropower Plant project (Tri An ward) expansion with a capacity of 200MW will generate electricity from both units in 2027.
On August 22, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters recorded the actual progress of construction of the Tri An Hydropower Plant expansion project in Tri An ward, Dong Nai city, invested by Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), with a total investment of 3,965 billion VND.
The construction project of Tri An Hydropower Plant expansion is a special-class construction project, approved for investment policy by the People's Committee of Dong Nai province (now the People's Committee of Dong Nai city) in 2020.
The plant has an installed capacity of 200 MW, including 2 units, each unit 100 MW. This is an important project to increase the ability to generate peak coverage capacity for the national power system, effectively exploit the annual surplus water discharged during the flood season of the existing Tri An Hydropower Plant to generate electricity, and at the same time improve the ability to regulate frequency and stabilize the national power system frequency.

According to the Power Project Management Board 3 (under EVN), representative of the investor managing and operating the project: The project to build a new energy line includes: Canals leading to water intake gates, water intake gates, pressure pipelines, hydropower plants, downstream discharge channels and the plant's connection system with the national power system (extended Tri An Hydropower Plant connection line to the 220/110kV substation of the existing Tri An Hydropower Plant).
