Khanh Hoa Secretary inspects the market after the flood, requests to ban unreasonable price increases

Khanh Hoa - Leaders inspect the situation of food prices and essential foods in the context of many goods increasing after floods.

On November 24, Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Secretary Nghiem Xuan Thanh directly surveyed and inspected the situation of food prices and essential foods at Xom Moi market (Nha Trang ward) in the context of many goods increasing after floods.

At the survey, many traders said that the prices of vegetables, tubers, meat, fish, and eggs have increased sharply.

Ms. Doan Thi Xuyen - a trader at Xom Moi market - said that essential goods have increased by 2-3 times compared to before the flood.

"S supply is greatly affected. Vegetables from growing areas cannot be transported back as before, so import prices have increased, forcing us to adjust the selling price," said Ms. Xuyen.

After researching many items and directly buying some products, Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Secretary Nghiem Xuan Thanh commented that the sudden increase in food prices after the flood has made people's lives even more difficult.

He requested the Department of Industry and Trade to urgently check and clarify the input and output prices to determine reasonable selling prices, preventing scattered profiteering to push prices above the level.

He cited that a bunch of water spinach is usually only 10,000 VND but now it has increased so much.

From there, Mr. Nghiem Xuan Thanh directed the Department of Industry and Trade to immediately work with localities with large supply, less affected by floods to supplement goods for the people.

To promptly prevent unusual price increases, Mr. Nghiem Xuan Thanh directed the establishment of hotlines in each ward and commune directly managed by the Chairman of the People's Committee.

The hotline will receive feedback, check in practice and strictly handle if it discovers essential sales at unreasonable prices.

The Provincial Party Secretary also requested traders to publicly post prices and sell at the correct listed prices, not to "inflate prices" causing additional pressure on people in difficult times after floods.

He encouraged traders to soon stabilize their business, and at the same time hoped that everyone would share and support the community to overcome the time heavily affected by natural disasters.
