Breakthrough in high-tech agriculture
According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Ngai province - in recent times, the Department has actively implemented tasks and solutions to develop science - technology, innovation and digital transformation in the agricultural sector.
The province has basically completed the application of smart farming technology and precision agriculture, forming high-tech agricultural production areas in the agricultural sector. To date, Quang Ngai has recognized two high-tech agricultural areas, including the Mang Den cold-climate vegetable and flower area and the Dak Ha coffee area.
In addition, the province has attracted 20 investment projects in the field of high-tech agriculture, with a total registered capital of VND 3,553 billion; at the same time, 13 new factories and processing facilities for agricultural products have been formed, bringing the total to 37 processing facilities in the area.
Initial positive signals of digital agriculture appeared when Quang Ngai issued a digital transformation plan for the period 2023-2025. The digital economy in agriculture is also focused on, with more than 500 OCOP products and typical rural industrial products being promoted and effectively consumed on e-commerce platforms.
Familiar agricultural products such as rice, wheat flour, fish and ruoi... when deeply processed by high-tech machinery have become new products, with many times more value than raw materials. The application of a modern production line is the factor that helps the product finally meet OCOP standards, meeting current consumption trends.
Ms. Thuong Thi Binh Uyen, owner of Huong Vi Moi food production facility (Quang Ngai province) shared: "Since applying technological machinery to production, our products have a longer shelf life. Previously, handmade roasted rice could only be preserved for about 1 month, but when dried by machine, it could be left for up to 3 months but still crispy and delicious, without oil smell. Therefore, customers trust and choose more".
Quang Ngai farmers catch up with digital transformation
High-tech agriculture is becoming a breakthrough development direction in the western area of Quang Ngai, with about 17,000 hectares of crops applying advanced technical solutions. A typical example is Mr. Nguyen Duy Lo, residing in Dak Tang village, Ro Koi commune, who has just harvested more than 200 durian trees for the first crop. Although the price this year is lower than the previous crop, Mr. Lo still does not worry about the output of the product. In addition to selling to traders, he also sells durian online through social networking platforms, with a fairly stable consumption.
Mr. Nguyen Duy Lo said: "We sell in many forms. Traders come to the garden to cut directly, and some durian trees are specialty, I sell them on Facebook, Zalo... Customers from all over Quang Ninh, Hanoi, Hai Phong and neighboring provinces all order, we pack and send them there. Thanks to that, consumption is very convenient".
Currently, in Quang Ngai, there are more and more farmers, cooperatives and businesses boldly applying digital technology in agricultural production and trading. The provincial agricultural sector focuses on building and synchronizing the agricultural data ecosystem, applying technology to improve productivity, quality and product traceability. Along with that, the consumption market is expanded through e-commerce platforms, helping to bring typical products of both the Western and Eastern Quang Ngai regions closer to consumers nationwide.
Mr. Ly Dinh Quan - General Director of Song Han Startup Building Center, Vice Chairman of the National Innovation and Startup Advisory Council - shared: "Digital transformation helps connect resources, create connectivity and synchronization. However, the challenge is also huge, especially in terms of skills and human factors. In agriculture, the most difficult thing is not technology, but the way of doing things. In my opinion, the most important thing is to help farmers sell their goods and introduce local typical agricultural products. It is necessary to train them to know how to livestream, cooperate, and link, thereby gradually improving their digital skills for farmers and businesses".
