In recent days, the construction unit of pole locations from 100 to 113 through Khanh Hoa commune, Lao Cai province has been urgently fixing the problem of the jaw pressing tank (used to connect the ends of the power lines) during the pulling of the 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen line.
"During the National Day holiday, we are still on duty at the construction site, waiting for replacement equipment from Hanoi to be moved, while bringing the hook ropes to the top of the pillars and installing the ropes. Everyone tries every hour and every minute to be able to complete it in a few days, said Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung - Director of Hung Phu Thinh Power Construction Company. According to Mr. Hung, each coil of electric wire is more than 2km long and weighs nearly 5 tons, so spreading and hanging the wire to the top of the pole is not simple and requires supporting machinery.
Sharing more about pulling the wire, Mr. Vu Quang Chien (Lam Dong power transmission team, Power Transmission Company 3) said: "Pulling 500kV wire across the river and mountains is a difficult period for the electricity industry, this job requires workers to have flexible health and experience to do it. When the wire was removed to the necessary location, 2 workers were waiting to do the task of locating the wire in the porous insulation to securely insulate the electricity. Pulling up the rope requires good coordination, because each person is in a location several dozen meters apart, so everyone uses a walkie-talkie to discuss.
Many workers also said that the pillar locations passing through Lao Cai province have steep terrain, small and narrow foundation while 100% of the foundation is on the top of the hat and the trunk. Previously, due to continuous rain, to transport equipment to the foot of the pillar, people had to open the road and use excavators to get in front of the mud.
"Not to mention, some locations of the columns right from the surface when digging the foundation have encountered stone motion. This is a very durable stone, when the mortar is just broken. The foundations of the pillars that encountered rocks had to use many drilling points, using melted powder to separate the rocks before the machine could break them. We had to mobilize 3 large excavators to attach the hydraulic pumping head, both excavating and pumping, then scoop up rocks and take them to the waste dump. It took nearly 2 months to complete, so we are taking advantage of favorable weather to construct day and night, said engineer Nguyen Huu Hung, technical manager of package 2 (from column VT52 - VT99, Power Construction Company Limited 4).
On September 3, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Do Quang Khai, Deputy Director of the Power 1 Project Management Board, and Director of the Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV Line Project Management Board, said that before and after the September 2 National Day holiday, the construction units will still maintain over 2,000 workers and machinery to complete the final items.
"The entire route is working with a spirit of sprint and high determination. Currently, construction teams and units are trying to overcome difficulties to complete the project as soon as possible," Mr. Do Quang Khai emphasized.
The 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line, with a length of nearly 230km and 468 pole foundations, is one of the country's key energy projects, assigned by the Prime Minister to be completed and energized on the occasion of National Day, September 2. Due to unstable weather in the Northwest region, affecting the project progress, the National Power Transmission Corporation has mobilized additional engineers and workers from transmission units, striving to close the power supply in September 2025.
