On August 27, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee held a conference to summarize the 2024-2025 school year and deploy tasks for the 2025-2026 school year of the Ho Chi Minh City education sector.
Attending and giving a speech at the conference, Deputy Minister of Education and Training (MOET) Pham Ngoc Thuong highly appreciated the results that the city has achieved in the past school year.
"The Ho Chi Minh City education sector has changed state in a timely and rapid manner. The most obvious is the high school graduation exam, when organized by the government at 3 levels, when graded, it is the government at 2 levels. But the city still coordinates smoothly, smoothly, on schedule, without errors. This is not only a sense of responsibility, but also demonstrates the capacity and qualifications of the entire education sector," said the Deputy Minister.
In addition, the Deputy Minister said that the quality of education in Ho Chi Minh City at all levels has changed positively, higher than last year. All exams are organized seriously, transparently and publicly.
The high school graduation exam is also organized professionally, fairly and effectively; creating fair conditions in access to education. The teaching staff is cared for, continues to be improved, and fostered in professional qualifications...
In addition to the achievements, the Deputy Minister of Education and Training also frankly pointed out the challenges that the Ho Chi Minh City education sector needs to overcome.
With the lack of facilities and classroom systems, especially after the merger, the Deputy Minister suggested that the city's leaders continue to pay attention to reviewing and planning to ensure enough schools and classes for students.
With the shortage of teachers, he suggested that the city continue to review and add a team of teachers to meet the requirements.
The Deputy Minister also suggested that Ho Chi Minh City should strengthen the management of non-public education, private childcare facilities and schools with foreign elements to ensure quality.
"Ho Chi Minh City needs to continue to strictly implement the regulations in Circular 29 on extra teaching and learning. The city has done well, so now it needs to continue to do better. If we continue to teach and learn more, the consequences will be huge, eliminating the spirit of self-study of students," said the Deputy Minister.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that the 2025-2026 school year is the first year of implementing the two-level local government model and is the year when many new legal documents are issued. Therefore, the Ho Chi Minh City education sector needs to proactively advise and coordinate well with authorities at all levels to implement effectively.
