The Central Highlands is entering the rainy season, which is also the time for people to plant crops.
This year, high coffee prices have led to the need for replanting of farmers.
In Hoa Thang commune (Buon Ma Thuot city) - the largest seed market in Dak Lak is bustling with buying and selling activities, especially coffee seedlings.
High demand has pushed up coffee bean prices sharply. According to the survey, real-life coffee varieties range from 4,000 to 7,000 VND/plant. The green coffee variety costs from 14,000 to 18,000 VND/plant, depending on the type.
Mr. Dao Huu Hien, Director of the Ea Kmat Coffee Technology Research and Transfer Center (Cestern Highlands Institute of Agricultural and Forestry Science and Technology) said that the demand for coffee seedlings has increased since the 2023 crop due to the strong increase in coffee prices.
The whole province currently has hundreds of households producing tree varieties, mainly coffee in large quantities.
This year, the Center has produced about 2 million seedlings to supply the market. The listed price is 4,500 VND/plant for real estate coffee and 9,000 VND/plant for graft coffee.
